It was only a blessing in disguise if davies and jarrett are fit to play!
El-Abd isnt a central midfielder, but you need somebody in the middle to sit and hold while our other midfielder (jarrett for instance) is more attack minded. We have livermore, who for whatever reason hasnt been played there even though he was good enough to play for Hull there in the championship last season... and El-Abd is probably the next best alternative out of what we have.
Correct me if im wrong. Fraser isnt that kind of player, and I would rate El-Abd better in the centre than the likes of Virgo. Im trying to think of other central midfield alternatives, and can only really think of Birchall, but again he is certainly not the type to sit infront of the back 4. Jarrett and Fraser (and maybe birchall) are our only recognised central midfielders!
