Half-term is approaching and the we are off to Amsterdam leaving Monday back on Friday (bloody good deal as well on Easyjet)

We plan Tuesday Amsterdam, Wednesday Efteling and Thursday Haarlem (as recommended by someone at work).

Apart from the obvious in Amsterdam I have two sons 6 and 12 - anyone recommend anything family orientated ?

Hire bicycles .... providing it's not raining too hard, Amsterdam is great for cycling around.
Also the seafood restaurants on the docks side of the city are superb

We'll do the Anne Frank museum, where are the docks - I love seafood

and equally .... if you want to get away for a few hours in the evening, take a walk around by the clubs and watch, listen and take in the sights (take a friend!)
Aside from the Thai and other asian girls in the windows, the calls from the club doors of "come inside and see real live fucky fucky" will crease you up!!!

On the seaward (west) side of the city (get and A to Z or something similar) Last time I was there I had a massive halibut with potatoes and salad and the most wonderful Dutch gin!

I went several times in my early 20s so I know all about the sex scene.

Needs to be family orientated so come on everyone any other things to do ?

The thing that annoys me most though is the constant "you want charlie".

Canal boat trip is always a good option. You might want to avoid the Madame Tusauds museum though, I went 4 years ago and thought it was overpriced and rubbish.

Not really family orientated but the Heineken brewery does tours which end in free beer! :drink:

Never been there, but was wondering if there might be guided tours of the Amsterdam ArenA?

Didn't like Amsterdam when we went...it just seemed so seedy and run down.

Now if you were thinking of going to Barca, then there are a million and 1 places I would recommend
