Both absolutely SUPERB.

If 20 people in the North Stand can make that much noise, it will be IMMENSE when FULL.

Also - the resident PA sytem is BANG TIDY

- it is very LOUD, I say, VERY LOUD INDEED.

Agreed! Can't speak for the NS Concourse.

There also needs to be a 2 minute warning before the players return to the pitch (in the concourses!)

Strange to hear so many people comment on this, on the radio it sounded really quiet, worse than at Withdean, we did wonder if maybe commentary was from one of the boxes or if they were using something to suppress the crowd or even if it was just because the stadium was less than half full and it was the reserves.

Glad to hear it was a good atmosphere for those that were there because that is what matters and transmits to the players.

I'm sure over the few ramp up games they will sort out a few issues.......give them a chance.....
Of course.

But they need some constructive comments. One of the things about the South Stand at Withdean was that just about the ONLY place you could hear the announcements and music was in the area around the refreshment outlets. I liked that.

Today was exactly the opposite. I'd like decent sound everywhere. It can be achieved.

Let's put things into perspective. You probably heard right on the radio. The atmosphere was terrible. However the place looked almost entirely empty. The 20 or so people in the north stand who were doing a grand job singing, could be heard, and heard very well. Basically the acoustics are excellent. When full, the North will sound loud and the WSU will join in and the place will rock. I am fairly confident of that now.

Yes - if we're looking for constructive criticism then the West Stand Lower concourse was eerily quiet - really quite strange. Would have been nice to have heard any tannoy announcements and pre-players arrival music as we were queuing for food. Once into our seats then all was lovely and loud - both acoustics and p.a.

Is it possible that the club would actually prefer it this way if it encourages people to take their seats earlier? Just a thought. Obviously, that would probably harm alcohol sales pre-match but would have other benefits with regard to the atmosphere.

I would say they were in one of the commentary boxes which blocks out a lot of outside noise plus they would be using directional microphones.

Mart - I was gonna do a thread saying exactly the same mate! 20 people sounded REALLY loud. And when WSU did a rousing seagulls it was hair raising - and there weren't many in there.

When he club said they'd consulted accoustic specialists they weren't blooming lying - the echo etc was apparent from the familiarisation day! It's going to be a STUNNIG atmo. I just hope all the West and Est join in and don't just watch the North FFS!!! (I'm WSU BTW)

I remember people saying after the first game at Withdean that the atmosphere was pretty good (I recall the ground being described as a "bowl" in the manner of a roman amphitheatre!). Please confirm that we are not being deluded by the novelty of the place.....

oooh something else came out of yesterday...it was suggested that there will be a warning notification for fans when the ref rings the bell telling the teams they need to be on the pitch in two minutes. this was to try and negate the wembley scenario

That won't work, as long as it takes thirty minutes to serve the half-time queues.

This video helps demonstrate the acoustics when those few hardy NS souls were singing...

I was in the North wondering if it would just sound poxy over on the sidelines. That's fantastic though - it's like a HUGE echo chamber, which I'm sure is why the PA is a bit indistinct in places. Astonishing amount of crowd noise considering how few people were there... this is the BEST news of the day by far. Top work Bozza.
