Advent calendars

We don't have chocolate in ours.

Each child, including the baby, has one with boxes built in the shape of a tree and each box contains a part of a manger. Lots of sheep, donkey etc then nearer Christmas we get Thee Three Wise Men, Shepherds etc. then Joseph, the Mary and last but not least the Baby Jesus.

My boys had playmobil ones like that. They're too old for it now though.

One year my mother in law bought something for the boys from Canada that you would hang up with 24 pockets that you could put your own little treats in. She only did it the once because it cost so much filling it

We've got the 'fill your own pockets' one - it doesn't cost much! One cadbury's 'treat sized' bag has about 30 little treats in and only costs about £3!

Hmmm....speaking of advent, did anyone on here ever make the Blue Peter advent candle thing?

They had it up every year- probably still do, in fact, unless it breaches BBC health & safety guidelines- but I don't know anyone who ever made it.

It was made of two wire coat hangers and a bit of gold tinsel.

We have wooden ones from GLTC now. They are pretty neat.
