You may have noticed that NSC has been ad-less for the last week or so, as Google have stopped them due to some of the content present on NSC.
It's become clear that with nearly 10 years worth of loosely moderated posts on here, there is little chance of being able to retrospectively 'treat' all the dodgy threads to obtain sufficient confidence that Google will not find something else that infringes their rules.
And, for those that don't know, Google ad banners - specifically the one to the top right of every page - effectively fund NSC, supplying the income to pay for a hosting bill which comes in at £500-600 per month, as well as enabling NSC to make charitable donations from time to time.
I've come to the decision that the only practical way of dealing with this problem is to move EVERY thread to our 'other stuff' forum where we have no ad banners. This will effectively become an archive of posts from 1993 through to today. It will, however, still be possible to post to these threads - they'll remain fully active.
If you see a thread which should be returned to the Big Board then please use the report post feature, and a moderator will move it back across.
I will be exploring a few other potential revenue streams to see if NSC is able to get to a point where the loss of Google ad revenue would not be as critical as it is today, but for now NSC is very much reliant on the revenue that Google provides.
I'll be doing this later today.
