A Summer Of Missed Opportunities?

Looks like not much chance of Constantine coming and Whing looks increasingly more likely to head off to Walsall.

Bertin touch and go whether he will sign.

The club had the chance for a decent clear-out of the dead-wood but had to give contracts to the likes of Mayo.

Looks like we could end up with largely the same squad give or take a couple of players.

Dave The Gaffer says he has heard we are definitely not aiming for mid-table this year but have we missed the chance to make wholesale changes to the squad?

I guess we have to wait and see before making a proper judgement but at the moment is does not look GREAT.

One top signing could change all that though so Dick get your cheque book out and give us something to feel optimistic about.

Do you honestly expect the likes of Constantine to end up at Witdhean?

We should be looking at more realistic targets not ones who have already signalled an intent to play at championship level.

If we are still offering the wages that were put on the table in January then it is not out of the question. Like all things we may well have approached him and at present his agent is touting him about.

We do not know. However it is still early into the pre-season.

Also people waffle on about Whing going to Walsall, where is the proof on this? As far as I can see it has been mentioned on Walsall's equivalent site to this, so that must be true, as this place gets so much right.

Considering that all the out of contract players aren't ACTUALLY out of contract until June 30 it's a bit premature for people to be bleating on about the lack of signings so far. Not sure we could announce a lot even if we wanted to.

However you can sign them on pre contract deals

Of course you can, but how many players will be signing those sorts of deals with anyone outside of the Championship? Most of them will be advised to hold on for a couple of weeks and see what offers they get.

I sort of agree but some will sign.

Ho hum, its still early.
