may i just draw peoples attention to section 4 of the public order act, if in fact this chap was indeed offering people up for a fight:

Fear or provocation of violence.

(1)a person is guilty of an offence if he—
(a)uses towards another person threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or
(b)distributes or displays to another person any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting, with intent to cause that person to believe that immediate unlawful violence will be used against him or another by any person, or to provoke the immediate use of unlawful violence by that person or another, or whereby that person is likely to believe that such violence will be used or it is likely that such violence will be provoked.
(2)an offence under this section may be committed in a public or a private place, except that no offence is committed where the words or behaviour are used, or the writing, sign or other visible representation is distributed or displayed, by a person inside a dwelling and the other person is also inside that or another dwelling.
(3)a constable may arrest without warrant anyone he reasonably suspects is committing an offence under this section.
(4)a person guilty of an offence under this section is liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding level 5 on the standard scale or both.

Given the reaction of the children mentioned, and other people in the stand, i would say the steward in question has in fact commited the above offence. Now where are those people with those pesky handheld videocameras to prove it...
snitch alert !

Sad to hear this, it just seems to be that end of the NS in the middle around C and D we have no problems there stewards treat us like humans and vice-versa.

Posh end of Shoreham
i could see it all unfold from the west upper h block
Unless my eyesight is letting me down the steward in question was very tanned and as he walked down the steps in the north towards the exit gave a 2 fingered salute to those behind
Very unprofessional & childish

I was on the train with my son after the match. We were sat with his friend. His friends step mother is a steward in NS.
I hasten to add that i knew nothing of the incident until then, but apparently the steward accused some fans of being racist, this apparently was not the case.
The steward then made abusive gestures at some of the fans.
He was taken away and sacked.

Yes, I witnessed his two fingered salute, and seemingly offering us all out (!)

It was the being sacked bit I was interested in. Good news, cheers
