Keith keith keith Dublin.

But not at left back where he started out. Lloyd moved him to centre back! So we have had other managers playing players out of position. Mind you Lloyd knew what he was doing :lolol:

Am i the only one who thought Gotsmanov played up front ?

I suppose he was in the sort of "Beardsley" type as opposed to centre forward.

Mark Barham was (England-capped?) quality, but in my brain Paul Wood was better. Is my brain wrong? It was quite young at the time.

Yep Barham won about 3 caps in a tour in Australia I think in the mid - late 80s.

Paul Wood certainly had quite a spring on him, in the sense that he could outjump full backs.

Think he had a falling out with Lloydy and we shipped him off to Bassetts Sheffield Utd.

Interesting to choose 7 centre halfs and no full-backs! [I will accept Dublin started there]. Can't see Charlie getting a lot of starts in that midfield. Love Carole, but Steve Penney at his best was about 100 times better.

I started watching properly in 91 so just missed Gotsmanov, though apparently he was different class.

I've really struggled for centre midfielders. I would start Chappers in centre-mid with Gatting at left back. And my Colin Pates would be the one who was on-loan with us during the 91 season when he was different class.

Goalkeepers
Mark Beeney
Michel Kuipers

Defenders
Colin Pates
Gary Chivers
Steve Foster
Stefan Iovan
Paul McCarthy
Simon Morgan
Steve Gatting

Midfielders
Ian Chapman
Clive Walker
John Robinson
Mark Barham
Paul Brooker
Dean Wilkins
Jimmy Case
Steve Sidwell
Richard Carpenter

Strikers
Mike Small
John Byrne
Garry Nelson
Bobby Zamora

Starting XI would be:

GK - Beeney
RB - Chivers
CB - Pates
CB - Foster
LB - Gatting
RW - Barham
CM - Chapman
CM - Sidwell
LW - Robinson
CF - Zamora
CF - Byrne

What about Ingimarsson and sidwell? Both look as like they be playing in the premier league next season!

Let's have some of those uppers, man. Keeley, Beeney, Kuipers, Beasant AND Roberts are still ahead if him.

Incidentally, I saw John Keeley at the Kit Sponsors' do recently. With his tan and blond streaks, he is the abolsute spit of Limahl from Kajagoogoo. It was all I could do not to ask him to sing 'Too Shy' to us.

Are you having a giggle.....Barham was the biggest pile of donkey shit i've ever seen. I'd rather have "flash" Walker in.

"We've got an England international"...my arse

You've gotta have Crumps in there....at least he gave everything.

Walker had his days, but Barham was more consistent IMO. Robinson was better than both. And Chivers was a far better player than Crumplin - legend though he was
