Apt really that Allan scored in my first ever Albion game, he was one of my favourite players, as a youngster.

That got me thinking that it must be close to my 50 year anniversary and a quick on line check tells me it was our next home game against Shrewsbury Feb 1970. We won 1-0 and my memory tells me that Alex Dawson scored and it was right at the start in the first few minutes.

we won at Stockport & Bristol Rovers inbetween those two games

Stockport being moved to a Friday game because of the Manchester Derby on the Saturday

unfortunately it was our away form later on that cost us promotion
