11 Pop Idol/Fame Academy. Now that the fat lady has sung, can it please all be over?

The Guardian started this
http://observer.guardian.co.uk/focus/story/0,6903,1113152,00.html

I'd like to see less Albion defeats and draws.

The Office and people who think its the best thing since, well pap idol which is another piece of "genius" I have railed against, as was Big Brother! All the same to me, entertainment for the brain dead, chewing gum for the mind.

Now i know some "wag" is gonna come up with things like Marvin moaning about the greatest comedy in the world ever number 1467890345! So I'll get in first.

So what would you like to see less of in 2004?

Less people going on about Gary Jules singing a 'superior' version of Mad World.

No more Pap Idol please.

No more 'straight in' at number 1 singles.

brighton, actually
some others...

i agree with tha pap idol/shame academy thing- goes on
WAY too long, just a cynical money spinner - they chose fat bird to create some hype, tho both ill be serving fries in a few months... if theyre that good, surely some record co would have signed them already??... that presenter on the extra programme, who does some of the bits on 'top 100..' series... GET A LIFE!!
(kate thornton?)

has-been sport 'experts' waffling for an hour either side of games - bbc, itv are just as bad now... all we want to see is the f@@@ing game!

refinance loan ads - start again, clear your debts etc... but in small print, right at the end, you have to own your home- dead easy to get a secured loan then,,, what about the other peeps who are long term renters...? a whole new market for someone...

People writing "less" when the correct English is "fewer".

I fear that we have a pedant in our midst.

Less Tony Blair.

I don't believe a word the bugger says anymore and the blatant manipulation of the media is reaching worrying levels - as in the mysterious rush hour power cut that blacked out London round about the time The Evening Standard would have been reporting Blair's appearance in front of the Hutton Inquiry earlier in the day. I also don't believe in his 'health scares'. It would seem far more likely he's easing his way out the front door of No.10 before he gets tarred and feathered and strung up by his ears by the electorate. And the 'child porn' allegations against prominent members of the anti-war campaigners before the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq was simply disgusting. Not to mention the WMDs (mainly cos they don't exist). Conspiracy theories? Maybe.

More Gordon Brown.

Yes but isn't that being a little tooooo picky? People will still understand what you mean.

Yeah, but as a journalist, I spot these things. :)

I'm not appalled when I see "less" used incorrectly - I'm used to it.

Even some supermarkets get it wrong. I think Sainsbury's has "5 items or less".

M&S has "5 items or fewer" though. :lolol:
