1994: Has there been a better year for albums?

However, you can add "Ten" by Pearl Jam to the list for 1991.

Darn it. I think at least one or two of the singles might've been 91? Please?

1979 for the win...

Armed Forces - Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Black Rose: A Rock Legend - Thin Lizzy
Eat to the Beat - Blondie
Entertainment! - Gang of Four
Inflammable Material - Stiff Little Fingers
London Calling - The Clash
Off the Wall - Michael Jackson
One Step Beyond - Madness
Secondhand Daylight - Magazine
Setting Sons - The Jam
Specials - The Specials
The Undertones - The Undertones
Unknown Pleasures - Joy Division

I agree 100% with the year, but not with the definition of 'great' albums (ELO and Supertramp in particular both make me want to run out of the room to find a sharp spoon with which to gouge my own ears out).

But to those that remain on the edited list above, I'll add

Buzzcocks: Singles Going Steady
The B-52s: The B-52's
Wire: 154
Neil Young: Rust Never Sleeps
Marianne Faithfull: Broken English
Talking Heads: Fear of Music
Graham Parker: Squeezing Out Sparks
The Police: Reggatta de Blanc
The Cure: Three Imaginary Boys
The Members: At the Chelsea Nightclub
The Human League: Reproduction
The Ruts: The Crack
The Fall: Live at the Witch Trials
The Tourists: The Tourists
The Pop Group: Y
Steel Pulse: Tribute to the Martyrs
Misty in Roots: Live at the Counter Eurovision
Ramones: It's Alive
The Tubes: Remote Control (was a favourite at the time, although it has dated a bit)

There are probably more where that came from...

Ha!

Well I added the likes of Supertramp because he asked for albums that did well in general.

Breakfast in America sold 4 million copies in the US(11 world wide) and won a grammy.

So while ity might have you reaching for the cutlery it did in fact quite well around the world.

Blimey, I'd be queuing up behind Truffers for the ear-gouging spoon with most of that lot (although I do have three of the albums). In particular, I'd have an 8th circle of Hell reserved for Yes and all their works.

I was going to say the exact same year, purely due to the Beatles land mark album. Pink Floyd also came up with a genius album and the Rolling stones. That year changed the world forever.

What's Going On is my second fave album of all time

My third is Tago Mago by Can - also released that year.

It hasn't got the spread of other years but there are some crackers there.
