gareth as you appear to be the "Film Guru"

Is the film similar to the original Casino Royale with David Niven?

Both films will have the Casino Royale element with a terrorist known as Le Chiffre gambling to raise funds for the organisation he works for and a bond girl called Vesper Lynd.

That only made up about 10 minutes of the 1967 "spoof" though.

Dave

I have not seen it but think Craig is a very good actor, he is different from Pretty boy Brosnan who is sickeningly handsome but a good Bond and reasonable actor , Craig has a face like the surface of the Moon but has beefed himself up and without wanting to say gay looks in fine fettle, he should add a darker feel to the genre and is something quite different to the Bonds before and I will post my review in a couple of weeks. Bale is the Bond of the future as he is the best actor of his generation imho , sickeningly good looking but is now Batman and the best ever Batman I might add. You can't be Batman and Bond at the same time.

I am from the old school of Bond films, in that I thought once Connery had left they should have left the series there. Although the stunts and filming of Thunderball and Goldfinger seem extremely dated now, as films they do stand the test of time. My favourite Bond is still You Only Live Twice, which I thought Connery was at his best.

I read all the Ian Flemming books and I think Thunderball was my favourite. Certainly the books were far darker than the films.....certainly as the Moore era went on, they bacame so Americanised they were sanitised!

I am looking forward to seeing CR though....should be good.

BTW Saw Da Vinci Code weekend before last. I really enjoyed that film although the critics panned it.

Not exactly sticking to the Bond formula are they.

I believe that this film is "prequel" and thats why they are not in there this time. Sort of Bond starting out type thing.

Did I imagine it or was Jason Isaacs not originally going to be the new Bond?, he certainly looks the part.

I really rate Daniel Craig as an actor, and think he is ideal to carry off this "dark" 007, after all the charachter is supposed to be a ruthless payed killer who will stop at nothing to achieve his objective, I thought that Brosnan was developing this cold hitman in Die another Day, and am pleased that they are developing that aspect of the uber agent.

Dave I agree about the Da Vinci Code, I gave it a 8.0 and said in a post I did " why was this film panned by the critics it was actually very good and always interesting and thought provoking ?, needless to say the wise chaps of NSC slated me for saying that and posted it is shite, especially TLO ( suprise suprise ) although Uncle Buck missed an opportunity to have a pop. My favourite Bond films are Live and Let Die, Goldeneye and The Spy who loved me.

I did a thread praising Wilkins yesterday without a single mention of you which you hijacked and started posting unnecessary insults as well as TLO, I just responded to those insults, anyway maybe we should all grow up a little, its quite pathetic really

There was no need to throw insults on this thread, yet you did, then have another pop at me and will now try and play the persecuted card.

Fine.

And DC is a craggy faced blonde.

Not exactly sticking to the Bond formula are they.

Moneypenny did appear in the Casino Royale novel, but I guess it was a creative decision not to include her in this film.

Q didn't appear until Live and Let Die.
