She was surprised to hear stories like that, because it is not her experience.
But the NHS is a huge organisation, and every hospital is different, every catchment area, and every Chief Executive and management team are different.
So it is unsurprising in an organisation of over a million...
She would tell you that her hospital has coped extremely well, had time to restructure and prepare, tripling it's ITU capacity, has never had a shortage of PPE, has never run out of ventilator beds... and it has been an extra-ordinary team effort to look after hundreds of extremely ill Covid...
With my wife who works as a Matron in an NHS hospital and two friends who have died from Coronavirus.... I can assure you I am quite 'real' about this. But carry on with your chippy jibes if it makes you feel big and clever.
I think I can answer your questions.
1 No - unless you return to work
2 3 and 4... If they are not, then people can't safely return to work. If they are, then it seems like a good thing for all concerned if they do.
Are they the same EU suppliers that German doctors are complaining about?

Given the open goals for the opposition and the usual 'new leader bounce', there is something quite unusual about this latest poll...
YouGov poll, 5-6 May (changes since 2019):
CON: 50% (+5)
LAB: 30% (-3)
LD: 7% (-5)
GRN: 5% (+2)
SNP: 4% (-)
BXP: 3% (+1)...
I am in the 'too early to say' camp... and also more interested in the 'excess deaths compared to seasonal averages' comparisons (as per the UK data published yesterday).
Current per capita figures as reported by John Hopkins (countries with 100+ reported deaths)... with the usual caveats about comparability of data etc...

From beginning of March it is:
133,767 - 96,396 = 37,371
Serious question... are you OK? Have you got someone you can talk to? You seem very anxious and angry.
To hear some reassuringly professional analysis and information about the disease and how it is being managed around the world... have a listen to this...
When was the 'sun shining'? I though we had just been through 12 years of 'austerity'?
I guess it is all relative... they may indeed look like the sunny economic uplands. :nono:
It's only a Survation poll... but it is interesting because it runs contrary to so much of the social and mainstream media coverage:
Survation Westminster Voting Intention: 27-28/04/2020
CON: 48% (+4)
LAB: 31% (-2)
LDEM: 8% (-3)
GRN: 5% (+2)
SNP: 4% (-1)
PC: 1% (-)
Changes w/ 2019 general...
Are you suggesting Sir Simon Gerard McDonald KCMG KCVO , Permanent Under-Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Head of the Diplomatic Service is not to be believed?
