Brighton 80s
Bank holiday, back when the police would round up youth sub cultures and stick them on a train back to London…
Turns out the psychobilly/Rockabilly guy in the photo was from Brighton….
Chooo Chooo off to London you go…
Skinheads and glue mmmmmmmmmmm who would belive that ???
yeah i went from stray cat and polecat loving young baby rockabilly into a scooter psychobilly and then full on psychobilly at the klubfoot / Long knives and rumble weekenders even abroard germany/usa/holland/denmark calmed down a bit now...
cant argue on the hair cut front (OTT) and especially after i found out he is way older than me and dyes the thing
he has a fair few mates and djs at gigs in brighton and london, met him a few times here and abroad at the bigger gigs (germany/spain) ooooh and he can attract the ladies...
yeah i was a rockabilly / psychobilly come scooter boy for about 2 years as the rallies were all incompassing like you say but not forgetting the likes of the king kurt etc
mods just looked like they needed a good slap....
anyway was that because the jam were punk then said they were something else ie mod and then said we are beyond mod and now..............shit
jakarta "I do remember there were Mods about in the 1980's who didn't like us bikers much. I have to say they seemed to be about 20 years too late - wasn't that all a 1960's thing?"
Yep the 80s mods were mainly a product of Quadrophenia and the northern soul scene in the North west plus the jam...
I was a young quiff wearing rockabilly roaming the streets thinking i was the bees knees acting the goat, and chasin the women and genral chaos. Thing is i was in an unmentioned larger gang that no matter where i went (apart from london, they fought amongst themselves) i would get at least a nod...
