The only trouble with a big points deduction is that we then have to put up with Arsenal or Liverpool winning the league.
When Man City win, it barely causes a ripple. But you’ll never hear the end of it from the plastics of the other two if they win it. No thank you.
Though if they’re...
Hinshelwood is still far too vulnerable in 1:1s and defensive duels to be considered a classic defensive full back (aka Joel Veltman). When he is left isolated I feel concerned. But as a modern full back (where he can invert into midfield) in a side who are likely to dominate the ball, I have...
The irony of course is that horrible injury was the turning point in our fortunes. Moder left the team for over a year and a space opened up for Caicedo. We went on an incredible run of form for the next 14 months or so. Then when Moder started regularly reappearing in the team, our fortunes...
Are we not the third ranked side if Birmingham win? Which would mean we play the second ranked side?
If Gloucestershire win then we’ll be the second ranked side and would therefore play Somerset?
Either way we’re in the second/third ranked slot.
I wonder how common this is with pro footballers. I know it was the same with Dan Harding and his school/youth football team. Sure there must be many more.
Does make me wonder who the back up to Wieffer’s position is now. Presumably Baleba, but that does make it all the more odd that Gilmour was picked there ahead of him against Man U. The club clearly have a lot of faith in Wieffer being a bit of a star.
I think @Hugo Rune is probably correct...
If the team are confident enough that Ferdi knows the system, then put him straight in.
If not, at least give him 45 in what is a bit of a free hit anyway. Could easily say the same about Pervis actually.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a scenario where we’re a goal behind and Pervis + Ferdi...
I think you’re spot on. I’ve said before that he doesn’t always create the right angles to receive the ball because he is so keen to take everything on his left, similar to as you’ve pointed out with his tackling. In the Man United game it looked like he had improved on this though.
From RDZ to Fab I think it’s becoming clearer that it’s a tactical/game intelligence issue that holds back Baleba being given a regular starting slot because he clearly has an immense physical profile and outrageous skill set.
I have wondered if this is possibly a language barrier thing or if...
Have to say at the moment it feels far more like luck (or opposition failing to capitalise) than any kind of improved defensive structure. We’ve not really ‘controlled’ a game yet bar the end of tonight and likewise Everton.
I may not be giving enough credit to the offside trap which they’ve...
The performance the sticks in my head is the short spell he was on the pitch against Chelsea before he got injured (when we won 2-1 at their place). He looked unplayable.
