[Football] The Non-League Football Thread- 2024/25 Edition

Gosh....that bought back some memories. Last time I went to Boston's ground was to watch them play Stevenage (Boro as they were then) about 2003 in the Conference days. I seem to remember Stevenage had Jamie Campbell playing for them at the time. No tickets/receipt for entrance issued and the...

    [Misc] '10,000 vinyls'

Quite....it's why we said LP's, EP's or 45's in those days. Mind you I also had some 'vinyl 78's. Hound Dog/Teddy Bear by Elvis. Grand Coulee Dam/Sal's Got a Sugar Lip by Lonnie Donegan were two of mine that I remember.

Most famous person you have met, shook hands with and a chat

Prince Phillip in a hide at Lee Valley, found a Bittern for him in the 'scope. Most memorable.....going 10 pin bowling with all of The Kinks after a Top of the Pops recording in Manchester back in 1965. I was working, voluntary, at a Cheshire Home in Littleborough as part of police cadet...

    [Football] Sky Sports +

I found it eventually on Sky+. At the start I didn't realise there were so many channels and wasn't scrolling down far enough. Think it came up on channel 37. Viewing was perfect, as we have very fast fibre.

    [Football] Chelsea moaning about PSR

It's probably behind a paywall but most on here know how to circumvent that. This is such a wonderful article by Martin Samuel and should be read. https://www.thetimes.com/sport/football/article/chelsea-todd-boehly-mateo-kovacic-conor-gallagher-football-martin-samuel-97b6wdfh2

[Other Sport] Anyone seen any swifts?

Sad to report that both the Pallid & Common Swifts have left our town 3 weeks earlier than usual, and after a poor breeding season. Here, just outside of Malaga, it is simply down to the lack of insects as we are now into our 5th year of drought, the last 3 being critical. The local rivers and...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

It could quite easily be linked to your tax return. In Spain what a pensioner pays towards medicines, they are not free here, is on this basis either 5% or 10% of the cost. Not a great deal I accept but a contribution that spreads the load a little more evenly.

    [Politics] The Labour Government

There are some that still do this. They are either with a holiday home or the dreaded campervans that litter the place exercising their right to 90/90 since BREXIT. However the number is fewer now as one of the only benefits from the aforementioned is the fact that most of the Brits living...

    [Politics] The Labour Government

Incorrect. We who live in Spain (mainland that is) had the winter fuel allowance taken away by IDS some 10 years ago. And yes, it does get bloody cold here in the winter (houses are of a different construction to UK and most do not have cavity insulation). So we have both central heating...
