80 million euro for a guy that was not even a regular starter at Porto???!!! Selfish player who loves dribbling, just wish he would pick his head up every once in a while and pass the ball.
If Veltman or Lamptey were healthy, that right side would have produced goals, goals, goals... Gross not a RWB. I think Gross's only productive position is a holding mid next to Bissouma.
We just have to give them a list of 20 players. With Maupay and Dunk unavailable, Veltman, Propper, March, Lamptey... injured... We have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to get to 20, don't we.... And still won't have a defenders on the bench, well, maybe Karbanic if he is healthy...
A lot of people have Jahanbakhsh as RWB... He has never played there and never will. Last game, we had a back 4 and Jahanbakhsh and Trossard played right and left midfield.
Sanchez
White Webster Burn
Gross Bissouma Lalana Moder
Jahanbakhsh Welbeck Trossard
Ali J did not play RWB against Wolves. He has never played as a RWB. We played a back 4 against Wolves. Burn was left and White was right. Ali J and Trossard played left and right midfield and slightly ahead of Bissouma and Gross. As a matter of fact, for about 10-15 minutes in the...
I noticed that many people are expecting Potter to give bench players a start now that we are safe (ish). But my understanding is that there was a big difference in money from EPL for finishing 12th vs 17th which are all realistic outcomes... That extra money can go towards upgrading our...
My point is that he brings AJ ahead of the rest of the bench because he thinks AJ can do better than the rest of the bench players. Ahead of Mac Allister, Connelly, and all our other attacking players. He sees all of them in training everyday and finds AJ most useful to bring in. He brings...
I disagree with you entirely. Potter is not stupid to use someone that needs too much time on the ball and too much space as his first and most frequent substitute. Potter sees AJ everyday at training and that is precisely why he think of AJ as our first substitute.
Agree with you on pace. We also need width... notice that Izquierdo, Jahanbakhsh, March and Lamptey are fast and play wide. Part of the problem is that defenses are compact and we try to attack them through the middle!!!! Width helps open up compact defenses that sit back.
That is very brave of you to say that around here but reality is he did GREAT. Totally changed the game!!! We so desperately need someone that gives us width... Opens up everything.
Perhaps you are forgetting a certain bicycle kick that he scored when he was substituted against Chelsea. But he was subbed on with 20 minutes to go then. Harder to do with 3 minutes.
Jahanbackhsh chest passed the ball once and pressured the ball a couple of times in his three minutes on the field which is shocking... Any other forward would have had a hattrick in those three minutes!!!! What is shocking even more is that he did not get a hattrick in the last game either...
