I'd guess that N might mean "not used"? You're right that a sub will have been allowed in 68/69 where they were not in the earlier season. Maybe Turner and Lawton were both named on the bench but didn't get on. I know neither of them...
Oh the relief that day was heartfelt, believe me. That was an astonishing season.
We were joint top in October, still unbeaten away from home going into November, and won at Fulham on Dec 28th to go into the New Year in 4th place. Then we beat Premiership Crystal Palace on MOTD on Jan 2nd...
The win put you exactly six points behind Doncaster with exactly 15 games left. Well remembered!
