I saw Mr West one day in a pub in Westminster. He had one pint and left, no-one bothered him, not even me. I quite liked that. His wife, the undisputed wife of the comedy century, is now in dementia, which is sad.

We were dire under Mike Bailey but we stayed in the top division. I don't see that much change from those days in all honesty. In those days teams could get promoted (Forest) and win the league. Those days have gone. But surely, by now, we can have an identity other than just hanging on at home...

I saw Billericay play at EP some 14 years ago in the FA Prelims. They beat us 2-0. The lad who scored their two goals went on to be a pro footballer, can't remember his name, think he played for Wycombe amongst others. They've come a long way since that game.
