Poyet's Sunderland go bottom of PL

As others have alluded to the problem for me is not the budget given to the manager but the seemingly poor use of the funds available. This is particularly true of January when we lost two goal scorers and haven't replaced them. To me it is the biggest concern far exceeding the negative...

Malkay will be in charge for Charlton.

Do those calling for change honestly believe that given all that has happened, with disjointed and unsettling pre-season, horrible luck with injuries and a very poor January transfer window when we lost our second striker and goal scoring midfielder and did not replace them, would be doing...

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Reading *** Official Match Thread ***

sorry but just thought I checked that you and the others on here being critical of the team, tactics, manager, stats etc are aware we played the whole of the second half with ten men against a team down from the premiership and currently above us in the table. What do you really expect?

    No playoffs, this year..?

Agree. Reading the interviews with the players they give the impression of being disappointed with the business. Certainly appears to have hurt morale. Also Oscar said on Friday he was expecting a busy day but we get one in. Just talk from him or was he expecting more from burke.

    Next year

We will still need to leave within ffp next year and will also face the prospect of replacing/new contracts for PIG, Bruno, Upson, Calderon, Orlandi, Ward, Andrews and possibly others I have forgotten, so not sure we are gearing up for a big push

    Obika, Rodriguez and Stephens...

Not sure I get the argument about look where we were. Yes we have come a long way but should that stop you hoping for more. For me we have gone backwards in the window. As you say Obika is a back up at best and the new striker, well it is a guess to how well he will settle. Stephens is okay but...

    Is that it then?

I accept all the arguments about financial prudence but cant help being disappointed with the clubs business during the window, which I believe leaves us weaker than going in. It seems odd that only one is in today when you consider Oscar statement this morning that he expected a busy day, don't...

    Is that it then?

Agree totally. I am not sure that Stephens and a short term deal for a striker who will need time to settle can be considered a successful window or indeed leaving the squad in a better position than pre window. And I don't agree if the excuse re time is used since we all knew Bridcutt would go...

    Aaron Wilbraham

Agree totally, why sell Barnes when you are looking at this guy as the replacement. Would certainly make me question Burkes abilities.

    Aaron Wilbraham

Please god no. How is this an upgrade or even like replacement for Barnes!

I'm trying to be positive about our player recruitment trials at the moment

Another one trying to be positive about this window but it is getting tense. I cant stop myself looking forward to the summer when we will be dealing with contracts/replacements for a large number of the squad and going on this, that will be messy

UPDATED: Dale Stephens SIGNS 3.5 Year Deal

We are all viewing this as a Crofts replacement rather than Bridcutt?

    Connor Wickham

I might be in the minority here but don't see a loan and reduced cash fee for Bridcutt and Buckley as beneficial. We lose two or our better players in return for a player for a short term who may or may not fit in during this period and come the summer have less cash to replace. And bearing in...

8 days left in the transfer window. Striker, Centre Half, Centre midfielder all required..

Tend to agree with that, but grow concerned that leaving it late to drive up the price may not give us time to get what we need.
  15. B

Guess WHAT happens when you SELL your BEST players ?

Totally agree. We all knew Bridcutt was going, deal with it quickly to avoid the disruption we have. And as for Barnes why transfer with no one lined up, the transfer was in our hands. Grabban couldn't agree terms and Mason is 2.5m, would be surprised if we paid that, leaving us with an issue.

    Bridcutt "not focused enough"

I would like to think you are right about signing lined up to replace, but looking at the issue with replacing Barnes I don't have your confidence.

Derby County vs Brighton and Hove Albion ***Official Match Thread***

I guess you mean Ulloa and Obika since these are the only fit strikers we have at the moment and I am not sure how fit Ulloa is

    Bridcutt "not focused enough"

because he had a conversation with jones and said he didn't feel focussed for the game. On the back of that he was not picked as you would expect

Derby County vs Brighton and Hove Albion ***Official Match Thread***

Not doubt trying to force a move and no doubt he will get once since we cant afford to carry a disinterested player. Real shame it ends like this

Get what you are saying to a degree, but I personally didn't notice much change in attitude from Barnes prior to his transfer
