Would rather we go after Alassane Pléa. His contract with Nice expires next summer and looks the kind of player we desperately need:

Makes me wonder where Joel Campbell is placed on our list. It's no secret that Arsenal want to loan him out, slightly complicated by fact he now wants a permanent move away.
Our clubs had it's hand forced each time with Dwanmena, Izquierdo and Neto. Unfortunately there's not much that can be done about it. Having stuff like that leaked it part and parcel of being a Premiership club.
Which may confirm that we shouldn't be going after him! Our midfield has creative players, the piece we're missing is a natural goal scorer that can make the most of them.
I hope we've asked about him / are considering going in for him. He was very good at Cordoba, and his goal return last season for Deportivo in La Liga would suggest he can step up when needed.
Gomez is on the Liverpool bench though, which would suggest that he's done enough over pre-season and is strongly in Klopps thoughts for the season ahead.
I'm not 100% sure that we're after a 'Better Baldock' anymore. If the plan is to play three behind a striker or 4-4-1-1 then we have Gross, Proper and (hopefully) Izquierdo who can all play that role... so maybe focus should now be on a strong player who the others can play off of.
