always hard to say if prospects will become future international stars
but what I have seen of this lad I am very impressed!
very comfortable on the ball have not seen enough of his
defending against top players but think this one might
make the transition.
he picked a team of young attacking talent
but with so much football to watch live and on tv
friendlies are boring!
If we make the euros football fans will be watching again
if not expecting success.
do not believe that Calderon Rea or Ince having to be considered as 4th choice centre back
will have any strong bearing on our league position this year.
the argument that he plays 3 5 2 because of the players available I don't buy
yes he can have a forward pair with mata behind
but now he has bought de Maria that doesn't exactly work
and anyway playing 3 at the back has meant an unknown new defender
and Yorke as a wing back ( lindgard started...
he has been better than crofts so far this season
he does fall between 2 types of midfielder
not strong enough defensively not penetrative enough offensively
but he ticks things over gets lots of touches covers lots of ground
he has good technique and is young and local
obviously hasn't let Sami...
it was a great achievement for Gus and Oscar to make the play offs
I think the competition is stiffer this year
but hope we can mount a challenge
but if we fall short but have more exciting football to watch
I will be satisfied
not saying he is playing one player that could be described as a striker
but one player as a central striker
and 2 supporting strikers /attacking midfielders
who I think will be now Jao tex and colunga behind Baldcock
with good options on the bench
if Sami sticks to the formation he has started with so far there is only one striker
with 2 attacking midfielders/ supporting strikers
if this is buisness done it looks like baldock as the main striker
withCMS and COG as backup
I would suggest Colunga and Jao Tex as no 1 choice for the other two...
a good example is with the other side of Manchester
with the signing of an established Argentinian we
shall see Luke shaw as the most recent young English prospect
on the bench not developing his game the most expensive left back
on the bench.
when Sami played COG and CMS it was not as a traditional partnership
CMS was pushed back as a attacking midfield/support striker and it did not suit.
When he replaced COG we have looked a lot better .
I think colunga may have technique to play as that supporting striker
replacing kemy/crofts in...
it looks like Sami is playing a kind off
4 -1-2-2-1
I would think he has been signed as one of the two most advanced midfielders
alongside jao tex would expect him to start ahead of crofts ,kemy and Lua Lua there.
although could be an alternative central forward
That leaves the conundrum of...
i think it would be more positive to start with lua lua at home
But it is not as thou lua lua has not had many chances to nail down a starting position
he has not delivered enough goals or assists in championship
maybe the rumoured spanish player could play such a role
it is worth bearing in mind the evolution of nationhood in Europe
a hundred year between France and England for example did not
end French English rivalry as soon after they were fighting on america in soil
it is basically a millennia of struggle for borders and power culminating
in two world...
still a good team
BUT there are 6 other good teams
2 with loads of money and an international second 12
man city and Chelsea
3 with great managers
Liverpool Everton and spurs
and arsenal with a great manger now splashing the cash
as ever it's not just in there / our hands
a fierce competition...
hope we can get better in than CMS
until then hope we start CMS ahead of COG
he creates more space for midfielders to run into
and hopefully cuts down the amount of hoof balls
