I'm surprised at how much love there is for the Detectorists, a show I like, but one I think would be too slow to get so many votes.
For me neither make my Top 10 UK Comedies, but each to their own.
The writing standards really did drop towards the end with those specials, don't know if the writing team changed?
The original 3 series in 98-00 was absolutely superb.
The specials (apart from 2006 - Nana's farewell episode - which was decent and had a genuine emotional punch) in 2008, 2009...
I'm absolutely buzzing for it. Not been to a game since that mildly annoying 1-1 against Sheff Utd (getting stuck in Stanmer Park carpark for over an hour in the pissing rain afterwards really compounded the misery).
It's great to have a game that will be fully competitive and would be massive...
I thought I was pretty darn complimentary of both?! For reference, I voted for The Royle Family, but I'm not going to pretend Fawlty Towers isn't seen the way I've described it.
Equally, if the BBC was previewing Brazil vs Sweden, it wouldn't pretend both are equal standard teams :smile:
Round of 16 - Match TWO
===
Father Ted - 1995-1998, 25 episodes
Highly popular comedy from the Emerald Isle. Will most likely walk this.

VS

The Detectorists - 2014-2022, 20 episodes
Gentle, warm, quaint, a show that glorifies in the mundanity of small-town life...
Round of 16 - Match ONE
===
Flowery Twats - 1975-1979, 12 episodes
An absolute colossus of a show. John Cleese heads up one of the most tightly written sitcoms of all time. Needs no further introduction.

The Royle Family - 1998-2012, 25 episodes
An incredibly warm, earthy...
I usually go with people but am totally happy going on my own when I do, I never think of it as going alone when you have thousands of Brighton all around you.
Insane levels of bedwettery.
We’re literally in a European spot right now (most likely…) whilst experiencing the greatest injury crisis our club has ever known (most likely…)
Come on.
