There's a book called Running With Raven, about a guy who runs 8 miles every day in Miami (for about 40 years). There's a few runners who run with him who decided to run through their chemo treatments and achieved amazing results. Basically one guy going through chemo said he felt like crap...
All 27 Couch to 5K runs complete. I am a born again runner at 51. Highly recommend the program to anyone who wants to get in 5K shape. Plan on maintaining the 5K distance for a couple of months and then launching into the Couch to 10K in November.
I'm in week 9 of Couch to 5K - The final week
You're a bit older than me, I'm only 51. Been a great program for me, don't push to hard just finish the scheduled training. I'm actually knocking of 6K in my last week so I had a bit of room to spare. I plan on maintaining the 5K for a month or...
<sarcasm> I'm so excited about getting back to the Ralph (New Era) for Sunday's Bills home opener </sarcasm>
Entering year 15 with seasons and I've never been less excited about a home opener. Yesterday was a top 3 worst Bills game I've watched.
Other than Bills home games I think I'll...
Was able to get runs in on the banks of the Thames (my first run officially over 5K) and the sea front of Worthing. Week 7 of Couch to 5K is in the books. Also managed to get to the Albion v Fulham match. England holiday is over, back to running in the Southern Ontario Sauna
As a 51 year old heading into week 6 of couch to 5K I'm having a hard time getting my head around someone doing 10K in 36:55. Some days around here I can't drive 10K in 36:55.
Also - Flying over on Sunday so my week 7 runs will be in London, Covent Garden area. I've never run in London...
One more run left in week 4 of couch to 5k.
Question - for morning runs do you eat breakfast before or after your run? I've been fine with eating before up until today (4.7K). As I build up distance in my runs I'm wondering if just water is good enough before a morning run?
Thanks to all for the advice. I ran cross country through school and played football until I was 40. The 10 year break after has seen many failed attempts to get back into running. The Couch to 5K seems to be doing the trick for easing me back into it. I'm hitting 4K fairly easily on the 25...
Question - I'm a 50 year old who is in week 4 of Couch to 5K.
I'm starting to notice a bit of tenderness in my calf after runs. I do stretching before I start & after, but none during the run. I've been reading lately that people walk for 5 minutes & then do their stretching. Anyone have...
Country Music & Rap
Growing up I only ever heard top 40 country music, couldn't stand it for 45 years. Would tell anyone who listened that country music & rap were a disgrace to my ears. When I turned 45 I picked up a Sirius radio subscription and stumbled upon the Outlaw Country channel...
For the first game I was working at home, didn't get my flag out on the house, didn't have my England jersey on. England won. Feeling immediately superstitious I have not worn my England jersey or hung out my England flag at any time during this world cup. I'm not messing with it now, so...

Friend works in a local jobs office and sent me this from her work. I hate the smell of pot and I don't partake in it as it does nothing for me, but I love the new jobs being created.
