    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

I think the HIMARS that Ukraine has are good in the 80 KM range, so they are already in striking distance. The individual rockets run about $100K US and it would be better to pummel the russians with cluster munitions and lesser priced munitions. One thing to consider, TOKMAK is about 230KM as...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Here's hoping. Tokmak is a spider web of major roads leading in all directions. Taking it, or having it within easy firing range would be huge. russia would still be able to move around, but they would be stuck using smaller roads.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

From the map below, Ukraine has already taken Robotyne at the top, and geo located footage has them into half of Verbove to the right. Ukraine is also at the outskirts of Novoprokopivka and some updates say the russians are already retreating troops from the area. There's nothing big to hide...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

I won't do this often, but people will begin to talk about the rainy season and mud in Ukraine. Here is the beautiful 14 day forecast for Bahkmut. Various weather sites say September is typically good with Oct/Nov being the worst. So, can Ukraine get to Tokmak in the next 30 days?

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

The US election isn't until Nov 5, 2024, and inauguration isn't until Jan 20, 2025. Even if the orange idiot somehow gets in Biden has more than one full year to set Ukraine up with what it needs. If the F16s really do arrive by end of year then Ukraine will have a big advantage in the air...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

^ I seem to remember finance people (I'm not one) saying that it would take a year or so for the sanctions to really sting russia, glad to see they are having the desired affect. Those same people said that even when this terrorist invasion ends and the sanctions are lifted russia won't just...

Still haven't seen any damage reports or photos, but Google maps has changed the bridge status to Temporarily Closed

Google maps has the bridge open and just a 37 minute journey to cross with no red area delays. I'd say it wasn't hit, or at least it wasn't damaged.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

In ground re-taken the counter offensive doesn't seem great... but Ukraine is regularly destroying russian held bridges, ammo stores, and command posts deep behind the line. It seems like if the Kerch bridge does get taken out completely the russian's are going to have one hell of a hard time...

My nephew was flying to London a few years back. He always tells me he's a big Chelsea supporter. I asked him if he is going to tour Stamford Bridge...... and he said...... what's Stamford Bridge? Par for the course for Chelsea supporters.

Looks like a fire burning below as well... did they hit the gas (assumed) pipeline in the photo as well?

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Rumours flying around that it was... here's hoping! Boat and a bridge in 24 hours?! Wouldn't it be wonderful if the answer to attacking was just to slow the drones down so they can't be picked up. The naval drone sure seemed to come to a stop before the final approach , and it doesn't seem to be...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Ukraine will receive F-16 fighter jets before the end of the year, John Kirby, US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications "Ukraine's 3rd Assault Brigade is inflicting "massive" losses on enemy troops near Klishchiivka, south of Bakhmut". Klishchiivka looks like it was...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

My 2 cents - the summer offensive started June 4th, and with summer being 3 months we shouldn't judge it until Sept 4th. Ukraine has clearly been focussing on damaging russian stockpiles, command, troops, and supply lines. At some point in time russian troops are going to experience...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Remember putin is terrified of dying. Has special people handle his food, stays away from damn near everyone, has identical rooms in multiple cities so few people know exactly where he is when he is filmed, has the same group of people with him for photo ops and just has them change their...

I find this stuff comical now. Putler has threatened nukes so many times and done nothing because he knows that he and russia will be wiped out within hours of launching one.

Kerch bridge might be collapsing/self destructing/hit by something... there's clearly a 1' gap where the bridge has separated (11 seconds to 33 seconds) - other reports coming in that the area near the145th pillar has collapsed
