Have you ever owned the car of your dreams?

Yes. My third car was a red Triumph Stag, which was a total nightmare in every conceivable way - but for the 15% of the time that it worked, it was worth every single penny. Current "fun car" is a Jaguar XJR, which is a lot more family friendly - but I still miss the Staaaaaaag!

    The OFFICIAL NFL 2014 Thread

"Bit of a rout" seems like a bit of an understatement. It's PAINFUL. It is going to make the actual Superbowl interesting though. I will admit to not really caring who won the earlier game today, but so as long as someone beats Tom Brady on the 1st we're happy here in Oregon. :)

As someone who works in Seattle................. tomorrow is going to be interesting. :)

Brighton v Brentford live in the States

Yes, this. It's *not* on the "normal" Bein Sports channel. I have Dishworld, which gets me Bein Sports and a few other things, but *not* access to Bein Connect. You need an actual satellite/cable subscription to do that. :/

Brighton v Brentford live in the States

Good info. I'll certainly be watching it. :D

    £350m spend on A27 upgrade

My dads house was "compulsorily purchased" for the Durrington-Offington part of the original 1990s mess - I remember sitting in the public inquiry (1993?), and the one thing that struck me at the time that it was almost being treated as a foregone conclusion that the "shove a dual carriageway...

    The Friday night drinking thread

A London Pride, followed by Rogue YSB and a Crux double IPA or two. I miss Dark Star. :(

Need advice on affordable old cars

Nissan Bluebird turbo, Primera GT, or a Rover Vitesse. No one expects *any* of them. :D Going a bit older... can't go wrong with a Dolly Sprint, a 2.8 Capri, or a mk2 Jag. All on my wish list. :)

How much can you knock car dealers down by ?

Here in sunny Oregon it's very dependent on the make. For example.. there's four Subaru dealers in the Portland area, and they a) all hate each other, and ) all have the same quarter end date. It's very rewarding to play the "well, dealer X gave me THIS quote.. " and work them off each other. On...

[Albion] Brighton & Hove Albion vs Cardiff City *** Official Match Day Thread ***

Someone should probably tell this lot that the goal isn't 50ft in the air. :)

    Shops gone that you miss

Going to echo a few earlier contributions - the West St Uncle Sams, Beatties, Gamleys, and - especially Gamer down by the ABC. Everyone always crowded around all the fancy Commodore and Atari tat while I could pick up all the old BBC and Acorn stuff that *no one* wanted for next to nothing...

One for the IT contractors on here ....

This, absolutely this. I contracted until a few years ago - both in London and Brighton - and agency staff were by far the biggest obstacle. I went the umbrella route (I used JSA) and never had any problems. Then again, "It's a 3-month contract, no point in going LTD" turned into 6 months.. then...

    North Corwall / North Devon

Look into Lynmouth as a base for North Devon. Convenient for everything, great walks, good food/pubs, but can get mega busy. Less of a tourist trap than Ilfracombe. :)

I wonder what Churchill would say about this claim..

"Build houses solely out of the stuff used to build wardrobes" (click the link, last picture)

Most boring (and unpleasant to drive) stretch of country road in Sussex

Worst? The A272 between Buck Barn and Billingshurst. Scenic, but the traffic consists entirely of old Fiats doing 25mph and fleet cars who want to do 75mph. Or maybe the A259 between.. well.. anywhere east of Shoreham... for much the same reason. Or the A27 between Beddingham and Polegate for...

Truly appalling albums by acts/bands you like

Surely that's down to pathetic, wimpy, weedy, girly, toothless 80s production "values"? The stuff that's been played live since sounds fantastic. For truly unlistenable Rush, I give you Vapor Trails. Painful, just painful.

    Moving to NEWHAVEN

IMO.. this is really interesting. The one-way system didn't stack up at rush hour so badly before they re-striped the lanes where Bridge St joins it.. it'd be a lot better if it was genuinely two-lane the whole way round and people learned how to merge into traffic properly. Blocking most of the...

    Moving to NEWHAVEN

I lived in a terraced house on Fullwood Avenue - for those that don't know, these are almost all three floors and 3/4 bedrooms. If they've had the garage knocked through, they can be five. Only drawback is lots and lots of stairs... :) For my part.. we moved back to Sussex (Uckfield) as that...
