Haha have seen the early Sunday morning of a 24hr track race?! That velothon race was positively joyful compared to some of the half dead souls shuffling around the track

Advice please; best trail shoes that can handle mud mud mud.. Steyning Stinger levels of mud plus rocks !? These Welsh hills obv don't drain as well the Sussex chalkies..

Biggest struggle of the race is trying to scoff a sausage roll or two going up that hill.. Runners dilemma!

These are wise words... Wiser than my ..Just naively give it the beans from start to finish philosophy.

The first half has as many good and fast seat of the pants enyoyable downhills as there is tough but still runable(if you want) up hills..

Get to checkpoint 3 ( I think) early for the sausage rolls.. I used to judge if your on track, time wise, by meeting the Bagpiper at various points and the amount of sausage rolls left! Have fun.

Good luck with that, it's a great race. It's well worth the struggle.. the first half will fly by, just have something in the tank for last 7ish miles. I might pencil it in for a birthday treat for 2018
