Yeah and you just know that even if planes do ever take off and the boats keep coming, which they will, and people keep dying, which they will, that no one would ever admit that this policy is wrong and hateful.
If/when it fails surely a 'normal' person would accept that the game is up and they are no longer able to govern and be forced to call a general election?!

1) Given the scorched earth policy that the Tories are leaving behind it will take longer than one parliamentary term to put right and people might not have the patience to give them a second term.
