I’ve banged on about my local restaurant, called Lokal, and their versions of surf and turf before. Tonight, after a deer heart starter, I had raw pork, pan fried sardines and roe. A great combo with lots of taste and texture contrasting. If you’re in Berlin please visit this place.
This restaurant, and that dish especially, is very much on my radar for next time I’m in London. I have read and seen a number of reviews and everyone speaks highly.
Reason I asked is that I witnessed the Russian annexing of Courchevel over a ten year period; caviar and truffle on menus, came with this. They would stick it on everything. I also witnessed the Russian model girlfriends take more of an interest in a couple of my friends than the usually short...
Does anyone else follow Alexander The Guest? His YouTube channel was suggested to me by a friend and I rather like it. His presentation style can be a little one dimensional at times, but what I like is the restaurant background and history and the dining room observations that he provides at...
Just been looking at the Gymkhana menu, at the top of every menu it has:
Oscietra Caviar 30G £100.00 Fresh Black Truffle £25.00
Is it popular with Russians?
“According to a report in the Times, a secondary market is developing in hard-to-get tables, an issue which has already arisen in New York and San Francisco and has now arrived in London. Much like gig ticket touts, scalpers are using online booking platforms to grab hot reservations, which are...
KT just gets better the more I hear about it. I think this will be the restaurant on my bucket list. I will take the champagne pairing but if there’s caviar I’ll swop out for a -50C vodka shot on your recommendation!
How does the wine pairing work? Is it small amounts for each course? Always alcohol? I guess there's some interesting champagnes in there?
I went to https://coda-berlin.com last summer and this is 15 courses. From memory we had a pairing for each course but always small and not always...
I had never heard of Karen’s but it sounds hideous
“Karens is an interactive diner and an absurdly fun experience. At Karens you will be greeted and waited upon by rude waiters and forced to play a variety of stupid games. “
You’d probably need a shot of heroin after experiencing this.
“A branch of the Karen’s Diner chain, which sells itself on its deliberately rude staff, has closed in Brighton after traces of drugs were found all over the premises. According to local Brighton newspaper the Argus, a police licensing check found traces of cocaine, heroin, MDMA and ketamine...
A number of us are fans of the Troll, and I have often wondered what happened to him. Well, he’s alive and well but sadly leaving Brighton for Isle of Mull. Our loss, their gain. One last hurrah in Brighton before he goes….
