I absolutely love Buxton Opera house.
I’ve seen Lloyd Cole there (pretty much his home town) and Adam Kay.
Great hotel just across the road and a very pleasant town centre.
Highly recommended.

Quite like him as well.
Tennis is right up there as a horrible middle class sport played by children of stockbrokers from the Home Counties.
I absolutely hate Wimbledon and anyone who sticks up two fingers at it and all it stands for is fine by me.

Contra view here.
I thought Moonlighting was awful. In fact I cannot think of one film of his I enjoyed.
Obviously sad / but doesn’t mean I have to like any of the stuff he made.

Right up it’s own arse American stuff. Everyone professes to watch it - but actually hardly anyone does.
Examples. Mad Men. Succession. The Affair.

Another vote for Lord of the Rings.
I tried but just found it really boring. I just didn’t care.
Another one is Kate Mosse. She lives locally to me but I just cannot get interested in her books at all.

I accidentally opening a phishing email this morning. I get literally 100s of emails a day and hardly look at most of them.
What I don’t need is a patronising email from someone with a pointless title in IT security outlining what a terrible thing I’ve just done. To be clear, this email was...
Because vice chairman is an utterly pointless title which means absolutely nothing in a privately owned company with a controlling shareholder.
In fact in a public company it would be earmarked as poor governance because Vice Chairman and CEO would not be the same person. It’s a mixing of exec...
Hands off except for paying for the Amex and investing £400m in the club.
Don’t be daft. No one with that size of investment and the wealth and brain of Tony is going to be hands off. He is the controlling shareholder and the cash payments are straight from his directors loan account.
And...
“Tony. We’re negative free cash this year. Can I have £32m please?”
“Sorry Paul. Need the money for a new business”
“Oh. Er what shall we do then? We’ve no liquidity”.

Yes - but Barber has zero control over the finances of the club even though he’s CEO and Deputy Chairman (whatever that is).
Tony runs the club - Barber is his gopher.

£2m pay for Barber - nice work if you can get it. Particularly if the business is owned and entirely funded by TB - I see he stuck another £32m of his own cash in. Wonder if this was prefunding Ben White's sale?
To be honest I'm more concerned about cashflow than profit, which are just...
But its a gameshow right?
You are only seeing what's been edited into the show. We have no idea as to the actual abilities of the candidates from watching it, its all for entertainment purposes. There's all kinds of issues around people being fired for specific reasons but if you are looking to...
I watched it last night as well. Sounds like mainstream tv needs to get its act together.
Terrific. No airs and graces - just an excellent piece of work.

I watched the whole series and found I was enjoying it less and less as the weeks went on.
There was a smack of political correctness about the whole thing and I can’t for the life of me understand how either of those businesses were investable.
Investment is my job and the numbers in the...
So so many. I'm an avid vinyl collector but would say these are my favourite - at least for now.
Curtis Mayfield - There's No Place Like America Today
The Seahorses - Do It Yourself
Portishead - Dummy
Small Faces - Ogden's Nut Gone Flake
Big Brother and the Holding Company - Cheap Thrills
Nice...
Found myself watching this after flicking through the Sky Channels. I have a mild interest as I used to live in Partick and they are my Scottish team.
3-1 after 28 mins but the standard is terrible - high point so far has been a schoolboy own goal. The mighty Rocks would wipe the floor with...
It depends on how much involvement they have had.
As I said earlier in the thread, Bennett will almost certainly have done work on demand, this may have been with the unis or the accommodation provider.
If it’s the latter and they think they can fill the rooms on direct let then the unis won’t...
