Surely as a prepaid mastercard it should be accepted at all places that take mastercard, i.e petrol stations etc. If you can't use it in store then how are you supposed to spend it?

It must be the programmer not linking with the boiler properly. The boiler only fires and runs or not, the programmer (and thermostat(s) tells it when to fire and when to stop. Best get a plumber or electrician in.
