Once you factor in staff costs and player appearance bonuses, Woking probably made a loss last night.
People have very short memories if they thought it was going to go any other way. How many people here would have been clamouring to watch us play Wimbledon reserves when we were in L1/L2?

But perhaps the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United U21s will prove to be greater attractions
Yes, that was a factor mentioned in Eastleigh's most cogent statement as to why they withdrew from the competition. Rather than abandoning the competition, perhaps the money paid to the partaking National League teams should be increased - and perhaps more effort could be made to attract attendances - tickets for schools, for example, or free tickets for accompanied youngsters. And maybe an earlier kick off - 6 o'clock perhaps, so no late night before a school day?
And one final question - just how much effort did the National League teams put into publicity and encouraging people to attend?

Aldershot not even announced prices yet ,probably waiting to see what crowds were like . We are charging £8 for FA Youth Cup . Oh just a point we were never going to pull out our chairman is on the National League board .

Although good for PL clubs My opinion changed a little after reading Eastleigh fc statement. Looking at some of gates you certainly cant have National league clubs losing money If PL wanted these maybe they should put money up for maketing the competition

I understand the negative feedback from the National League clubs and this competition should be financially beneficial for them. It seems to me to be an ideal opportunity for our younger players to play competitive games, but it won't be worth it if nobody shows up. I'm not sure how best to make it worthwhile, but I think the Premier League clubs should listen to the National League clubs to make the competition better.
It's sad how few people wanted to attend the games, that's the primary issue to solve I'd have thought. Maybe as a starting point, the PL clubs could guarantee a minimum income for each match?
