Closest I have come to royalty was an open air bar in Courchevel. We sat down and someone clocked Prince William and Kate and a bunch of friends a few tables away. They were seated for an hour or so, and head banged along to Bohemian Rhapsody amongst other things. Only when they left did we twig most of the other tables was their security.

Found myself in the same room as Kelly Cates this week, who was absolutely lovely and seemed happy to chat.
Died a year later (1977) suddenly of a heart attack, sadly.
Was chatting to Faye Fife the lead singer of the Revillos as they were known then following a gig for which my cousin's band had provided support, so I was in a sort of "with the (support) band" situation.
While the band was packing their gear away Ms Fife and I were standing next to an amp upon which was perched her makeup bag. As we were chatting a bumbling oaf bundled up holding out a pen and paper and asked her for her autograph. As he handed the pen and paper to her he accidently knocked her make up bag off the amp onto the floor.
Instead of picking the bag up he just looked at it gormlessly and stood there awkwardly waiting for the autograph. Ms Fife gave him a withering look and said, "well aren't you going to pick it up? " He sheepishly and obediently picked up the makeup bag and placed it precariously back on the amp, but somehow immediately managed to knock it to the floor again. Once again he stood there gormlessly, again not thinking to pick it up and just stood there awkwardly waiting for Ms Fife to sign the autograph.
By now Ms Fife's tolerance had worn a bit thin and she said more scoldingly to him, "well pick it up then" and gave me a look of exasperation.
He picked it up again and this time he managed to place it safely back on the amp without it falling to the floor. Ms Fife then finally signed her autograph on the slip of paper he had provided while shaking her head in disbelief and handed him her signed autograph. He silently took it off her and as he sloped off he ripped the piece of autographed paper up and threw the pieces on the floor.

Easter 99 …. I was with family up a mountain in Zermatt having lunch. My observant sister in law spotted Captain James Hewitt with friends a few tables away. On a skiing trip, his attire literally included the archetypal red Paisley cravat.
Yes he had obviously arrived at the same conclusion by the time he'd obtained her autograph, hence his immediate destruction and discarding of it. On arriving home he probably then ritualy destroyed his entire Revillos /Rezillos record collection (which wouldn't have taken long), and ripped their posters down from his bedroom wall.

Mark McGhee in a Brighton pub. Had a chat for about an hour. Most interesting subject was talking about his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson and how he has called him throughout his career to ask for advice. Mark was a gent and was drinking red wine and not pints of whisky lol

Steve Earl for a chat. Morgan Freedman stood in front of me at the Carlyle (NYC) but was working at the time so no chance to talk, highly unprofessional. Had to cut short a coffee and cake meet with the MD of a hotel in DC because President Erdogan was arriving.

No, it was a genuine comment. Jack Black and Shane Warne were the only two I knew. @Weststander pointed out Vicky is Victoria , who I also know but didn’t connect to VCM. She’s also a friend of Bloom via her poker.
The rest I’d genuinely never heard of. Spider-Man movies are not on my radar, never heard of the tennis bloke, could name you 3 North American comics none of which is the Canadian guy (US humour isn’t usually funny is it?) and know the 5 basketball players you listed but not David Lee. David Lee Roth and David Lee Travis yes, plain old David Lee no.

Why would it be a joke? I’d only heard of three of them - Black, Coren and Warne. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jack Black in anything, I regularly watch Only Connect and live in Hampshire where Warne played Cricket - I actually found myself scanning the same rails as him in TK Maxx in Eastleigh once.
i have no interest in tennis, have never been subjected to Canadian comedians and am not a major follower of Spider-Man films.
Come on, you must know my style by now: side-splitting dad jokes, hilarious puns and a few catch phrases.
