And England have dumped Jack Leach!
Leach is in the England squad for the Pakistan tour. He’s just not currently first choice when they pick a team with just one spinner.
Not Sussex but I am a Somerset fan. I can’t compute what has happened this match vs Surrey. It was a perfect demonstration why first class cricket is the best form.
We were about 305/5 first day then 317 all out.
Surrey were about 220/8 and got a lead.
Somerset about 120 ahead for 8. Leach helps Craig O put on some runs then Banton hobbles out as he can’t walk. Scores 46 and we set Surrey 221 with about 80 overs.
Surrey bat for draw and are 3 down with 20 overs left. A mad 7 overs sees them 8 down. Then they get to 9 balls left before losing another. Leach got final wicket with one over left.
Sensational day. Sensational from Banton on one leg.
Archie Vaughan (yes his son) opened the batting and got 11 wickets.

Feel like every cricket neutral were behind you too as it was against Surrey. Makes the D1 title interesting as well.
Want to add a well done to the umpires stopping the Surrey delaying tactics. I was engrossed in that match and really enjoyed seeing you win, despite being a Sussex fan!

Reminds me of watching Sussex play down at Taunton in 1993 where Mushy was playing for Somerset and was bowling to a similar field by the end.

We are WAITING for Somerset to finally end their annual bid to avoid winning the Championship and send Slurry packing. I think every neutral wants it.
We won’t. We will find a way not to. 2010 was the chance then it rained at Durham on the last day. We lost on games won I think.
It has been brutal.
As things stand we could win the quadruple (second xi champ) plus the blast champo and one day cup. Fully expect three seconds. It is what we do. Been a fun season though and all but one of the side have played age groups for us!

You can have all of those with pleasure. Except the 20 overs cup, obviously. But you have won that enough.
Due to circumstances I can no longer venture to Birmingham for the final (now going to football instead). I have listed my two tickets on the Edgebaston ticket exchange if anyone wants to go.
