Glad you said that as that’s what I’ve been saying - he kicked the ball away when it wasn’t in play, so Pedro in no way was he delaying the game - I thought it, you thought it, but pundits across the media and Arteta, who their professions is football didn’t

I’ve just heard that the club are thinking of introducing a new dish to be sold in the catering kiosks at the Ipswich game, called ‘Rice on Toast’, apparently one of Veltman’s favourite recipes - the problem though is that it goes off very quickly.

The ball was going to stop at some point. Rice deliberately kicked the ball away. It's a clear bookable offence.
Rice was talking away and Veltman was going to kick the ball. Rice then stopped walking away and put his leg where the ball was. That's what caused the contact.
VAR had nothing to do with it.

These so-called pundits talk a lot of bollocks.
For example, some of them said, yesterday, about Rice's second yellow, that 'it wasn't a red card'.

There was no one open but… Veltman did something very cute he arched his body looking for a team mate, thus giving the impression the pass was on. I remember when he arrived he said he was a “clever player”; yes you are, yes you are.
Big Meeks can be added to the list of people who think ref should change the rules for arsenal. It seems Declan rice has finally and formally replaced Kane as the Englishman who can do no wrong. Had Anthony or Bruno done the same thing they would be called petulant.

Agree. I say it tentatively, but at least for our games so far, the standard of refereeing has been a marked improvement so far. I do fear that this may always happen and it's all downhill from here.
Now for the negative. Assistant referees have been dreadful so far. I know they're hamstrung by the stupid don't raise your flag unless it's 26.2 miles offside thing, but they really need to sharpen up and start giving things they think is offside. The PL have said that semi-automated will only be used where VAR is currently used so it's on them to solve it.
Worth adding, if we're entering pedantry on the Pedro thing, that the average throw-in stoppage is between 7-15 seconds. I counted 12 seconds between Pedro kicking the ball and the play restarting. Hard to argue it's delaying the restart in a multiball system.
