'Ten days' is very specific!

There's no guarantee that we'd have used him straight away against Arsenal anyway - so IF this timescale is correct, all it does is keep him out of the Turkey squad for the break, which would be no bad thing.
Now that is a conspiracy theory I like. Probably wouldn't have played v Arsenal, tell the world he has a slight injury that rules him out for Turkey whilst FH plies him with homemade cookies, hand written letters and cunning tactics and BANG he's ready to rock v Ipswich.

It makes a lot of sense. We've spent months trying to complete this deal. The last thing we need is him then going off to play 2 nations league games against Wales and Iceland next week.

I doubt FH would have been planning to use him at Arse after only one or two training sessions.

I suspect Ferdi has strained his foot arches after undertaking his Tuesday night 'Welcome Lap' in nothing more than a pair of flat-soled loafers.

Technically came off injured at Everton
Concussion sub? Not sure that counts as a full blown injury, plus he didn’t miss training because of it etc, but point taken.

Hmmmm, I think he may have a slight knock to keep him out of the Arsenal game ( not a terrible thing due to the difficulty of the opponent for a debut) and then training with the first team for the two week break. It’s the sort of injury many Top 6 team players have had before I believe.

Exactly. I know it's after the event, but I think it was risky anyway to play O'Riley after a very busy day and being up late to make the effing welcome video 🤦🏼‍♂️. More thought needed internally.
It certainly felt a bit as a "crowd pleasing" gesture to play him more than some sort of necessity or pragmatic decision making.

Not that it mattered much. If he had pulled a muscle or something, it would have looked dumb, but as it happened... don't think it had much to do with staying up late.

He'd gone through pre-season with Celtic and played a couple of games prior to the move. He's as match fit as he could be and I imagine was played so he could get up to speed with his new teammates etc.

Regardless there's no way Fab could have forseen a filthy tackle by a thug.
