Heaven forbid. No! We tried this sort of bugger-aboutery against second division Aston Villa in the cup 3 or 4 years ago and lost 3-1. It was embarrassing - and they crowed as if they'd won the CL and we were dumped out of the cup in humiliation. Never again, please.

We've had this discussion every year since then... its a good tradition.

You'll be disappointed though, like every year.

The team won't contain anyone who starts vs Man Utd or who plays a reasonable number of minutes as sub*. The lineup will be clearer on Saturday.

* Steele may be an exception given the current dire goalkeeper situation if Rushworth is certain of being loaned out.

Based on leaving out our entire starting XI from today and players that are yet to confirmed as new additions to the squad:

What strength in depth we have! And still the likes of Estupinian / Ferguson / March / Wieffer and Verbruggen all injured.

Verbruggen and Estupinan are back in training, right? If so this would be an ideal one to ease them back in. Also I think Rutter is cup tied.

Would be good to see Webster, Rushworth, Igor, Lamptey, Adingra, Rutter, Baleba, Enciso, Yalcoure and Gruda get minutes. I’d like to see some of the u18’s and 21’s too. Howell, Weir, Offiah etc.

That said, whatever the manager wants to do is good with me.

Personally I’d play Steele instead of Rushworth. Bart is back in training so won’t be far off, and Steele will struggle for game time after that

Ermmm ........we do want to win a trophy soon, don't we? I suppose it would be quite exciting, Sussex-wise, if Crawley had a spectacular League Cup run, but ....................................
