Jack didn’t win a single duel at LB. If today was a show of faith, he blew his chance. Looked good going forward with Kaoru but defensively we were worse off than having nobody playing there, at least then Dunky would’ve covered.

More likely, Twitter is right and Barco had a knock, in which case I’m still glad we went with Jack over Milner slotting in there. Milly had one of his better games for us I thought, so I’m glad he wasn’t pushed to makeshift fullback
I don't know anything, but it's inconceivable to me that Hinsh gets picked at LB in front of a fully fit Barco

He's a 19 year old right sided midfielder who is still coming back to match fitness following a long injury being asked to fill in at left back against a very experienced and tricky winger.

Whilst they did get crosses in, they were poor because the winger was under pressure. Jack shadowed him well and never let him get a free run at the keeper or box.

That's all we could ask from our new utility star. We'll have better left back cover soon, but I thought he did well.

Did I mention that he's 19 and still very new to the Prem. Did great.

Well said. He also played his part in a 3-0 win away from home. It’s all part of his education and development.

Even in his spell at right back last year it was clear that isolated 1v1 defending is not one of his strengths. However, he is very good at inverting into that midfield position where his strengths are far more suited.

I agree. Barco should have got some sort of runout yesterday if he was 100% fit.

He clearly wasn’t.
Which makes me suspect he was being protected. And once we were 2-0 up they they were down to 10 men, Jack had done his job and no need to risk Barco. Would be my guess. Bigger tests to come, very soon and we'll need a fit Barco.

Had our two centre backs won any of the headers after they hoofed the ball forward then Harrison would hardly have got a touch.

Everton went all in on f***ing over him (and Mitoma, who can't really defend), leaving Harrison on the wing even when play was elsewhere, while also pushing Ashley Young higher in the field.

They had a plan and it worked to some extent, but in the second half we abused their desire to attack on the right wing. In the end it resulted in one too many Mitoma vs Young one-vs-ones. Nice try though.

It was a struggle for Jack (would have been for a lot of players), but also a difficult situation. I could see him playing LB again, its going to work better against a left-footed winger than a right-footed, because its not fun defending with your weaker foot against a winger who goes on the outside.

Want the boy to succeed but he's simply not good enough. Lower EPL or championship is his level. Let's see how he does this year but he was woeful on Saturday, can't understand why he wouldn't be loaned and Barco was. Barco is an Argentinan international FFS.

First time at inverted left back in the EPL. Targeted by Everton bully boys, he did ok.

I suspect he is better suited to at least 3 other positions. He was brilliant last season in patches and has huge potential but I would not be surprised by a loan if we get 3 more signings over the line.

He was good in a couple of games last season. He's obviously an intelligent lad, and will have a good career in the game. But we are a top ten EPL team now, he's not good enough for us, sentiment has no place in the game.

Barco has played 34 minutes off the bench in a half baked Argentina friendly. He didn’t even get called up to the Copa America !

He's in the latest squad and the only reason he wasn't in the copa squad was because he followed blooms instruction unlike enciso and made himself unavailable.

So you think he will be a regular for us ?
He already is. When he's fit, he plays. And that's because he's an outstanding footballer who is going to have a Premier League career. My only fear for Jack is that he'll have his head turned in a year's time by one of the elite clubs. By that point we will have hopefully proved that we're also an elite club.
