by being a MyAlbion+ member your automatically on season ticket waiting list
Thanks - Ok - how does it work then. I am assuming that once all the season ticket holders renewal dates have passed there is an opportunity (time frame) for MyAlbion + members to grab a season ticket for any seats left ? If so, I've never seen that happen.

Yes, the club will email asking you if you want a season ticket, due to other commitments I didn’t have a season ticket last season so I got offered after the renewals had happened

Just saw this on another thread:

And it got me thinking - what would be the perfect stadium size for the Albion?

I wouldn't actually say 32,000 was anything other than perfect really, because when we eventually do go down (for the first time since 2006) we will probably struggle to keep gates close to 30,000 if we didn't go back up within 3 seasons. Then there's the crappy transport links.

But would it be worth having a stadium holding 40,000 just in case we do continue to get bigger?

Back in the day when the stadium design was as it looks today (based on the Sydney Olympic Stadium) but was still a pipe dream so it didn’t really matter what the design looked like as it seemed so far off/unlikely……… there was a very interesting thread on here about stadium design and the then interest in the States in retro stadiums that were a traditional stand design updated to modern standards. It was pointed out the advantage was that Stand capacity could be increased as and when required. And this is what happens at Old Trafford. When it was rebuilt after WW2 the OT foundations were massively over-specced, but this made it easier to go up to increase capacity. But we all know why we couldn’t easily change stadium design at any point but it was interesting.

Thank you , interesting.

My circumstances are that we have 2 season tickets side by side in the West Upper. Next season (2025/26) my father (65+) is unlikely to be renewing but my son would like my fathers seat (which incidentally he used to own as a season ticket holder until he gave it up!) and become a season ticket holder (adult) again - he is a long standing MyAlbion+ member and the Albion will do better out of it by getting the 2 seats at full price.

I know that the Club will not allow seats to be swapped within families so I guess I will have to list my fathers seat for renewal and hope my son can buy it before anyone else.

We're at the perfect size right now. The Amex is great and our capacity is in line with the likes of Leicester, Southampton and Wolves.

Possibly my imagination, but this doesn't seem to be overly relevant to other PL clubs, which normally looked packed out regardless of school holidays, people being skint etc.
It will depend on the club, if you are judging by the telly, it depends on where the cameras are, family stands are etc. Also, all clubs are encouraged to make the stadium look full for the broadcasters, which some do better than others.
Proportion of season tickets sold also makes a difference, like us, West ham are usually sold out, but far from everyone turns up, and it's worse in school holidays.
They were considering not allowing fans who had missed a few games, to renew their season tickets, a while back.

I mean, Leicester won the League and played regular Champions League football in a stadium holding around 30k.

Where are you putting the extra people then, genius?
a giant steel framed mezzanine starting at current roof height, rising up on stilts and 2 further storeys. Occupants provided with opera glasses and altitude masks.

1. Fix the transport. Would entail public money for the Lewes line, sadly isn't going to happen. Or a tram/light railway on the Lewes Road for all users every day. The UK rarely looks at metropolitan schemes such as this unlike our continental neighbours.

2. Then perhaps 40,000 plus.

As I said a while back, my nuts fantasy BHA stadium would be the size of something like the Emirates or Spurs stadiums but with around 35k seats (all we really need), wider seats, generous spacing between them, wide ailes etc. It would look imposing, and with the right design would look great inside. Totally ludicrous and impractical, but if I had Tony's cash and then some that's what I'd build.
According to the Amex tour guide that is exactly what we have now. Tony Could have had 40K seats. But elected to have huge spacing between rows.

we used to have 2” more space between each seat until they shoved them closer together to fit a few more seats in 3 or 4 years ago. Now it’s shoulder overlapping shoulder.

Anything less than 50k would make it difficult to compete for champions league places regularly.

However, we are better off selling out regularly as we are
West Ham are above that size and Sunderland were not far off it.
Both are/were never near Champions League qualification.

The spacing between rows not seats is what the tour guide was pointing out. Many of the disabled access areas could stand 100+ people. If it was thought out a bit more, They would still have plenty of space.

A tram along the Lewes Road would actually be an excellent idea. It's a pretty straight road and would be ideal for ferrying students between the city centre and universities, as well as serving Moulscoomb etc.

Just be thankful that we have padded seats, that are comfortable, and with lots of leg room. If you have been to other grounds you will find that that is definitely not the case. Two years ago I went to Old Trafford, checked my ticket for the relevant block, row, and seat number only to find my seat didn’t exist - just nothing there, a void, a space of nothingness.

I’ve previously looked at the funding in some European cities eg Montpellier. Often a mix of public and private sector money, they don’t come cheap and they sometimes mothballed planned-for extensions when there are cost overruns. But they’re fantastic, people leave cars behind, make more use of city centres, low carbon.
