In a pile of football shirts
Cup Fever grips the Shooting Field on Saturday again when Steyning take on Crawley Down Gatwick in the FA Cup Preliminary Round. Win that and it's into the First Round Qualifying. Looking forward to this, with the goings on at Goodison playing in my ear.

Of interest to Worthing fans, perhaps:

National League South
Slough Town 2 v Chelmsford City 1
last Saturday (10th August)

Very much a game of two halves. Chelmsford on top in the first half and comfortably 1-0 up at HT. Slough warmed up though and bossed the second half.

A lovely ground. Very smart and well kept. Very short queues for food and drinks with a good choice of beers including the very local "Windsor and Eton" brew. II was told that the gourmet burgers were very good too. A model non-league set-up IMHO.

Really welcoming to away fans, of which I was one - had a great chat with one of their stewards after the game who told me a little about the club as I was waiting to board our coach.

Used to live in Slough and seen them play home games at Wexham Park (I think the 'stadium' is still there), Windsor and Beaconsfield...aim is to finally get to their new ground this season.

Enjoyed the sunshine earlier today at the Pilot Field where Hastings United and Bognor Regis Town shared the points
No goals at the break but then Davide Rodari 48& 75min. put the home side 2 nil up
The Rocks hit back though with first a penalty from Tommy-Lee Higgs 79min. and an equalizer from Callum Barlow 83min
Overall a fair result witnessed by a crowd of 1246

Up the Albion

Ticked off ground number 37 with TD Shipley vs Ferring today in the SCFL Division 2.

This place is in the middle of nowhere. It's not in Shipley, which in itself is tiny, but in the hamlet of Dragon's Green (hence the clubs nickname of the dragons).

It's very easy to miss it when you come off the a24 as the sat nav doesn't take you there and you'll easily miss the turning. The entrance is up a little gravel track which is barely signposted.

It's actually not a bad ground for division 2. Entrance is free with pitchside parking.

There's a small stand which they appear to be adding seats to. There are also plenty of benches and a small wooden patio area. The clubhouse is small but it's pretty decent.

I was laughed at when I asked for bovril- it was pretty sweltering to be fair

TD Shipley (wait, does TD stand for "The Dragons"?!) absolutely massacred Ferring 7-2. They had a good front 3 and Ferring just couldn't defend to save their lives.

Anyway, this place has a nice rural feel and is probably one of the better Division 2 grounds actually

If I zoom in on a couple of your pics there I can actually see.......myself. 7 points on the board after 4 games is a great start for Hastings. Seems to be a genuine togetherness in the squad under Danny Bloor too - Rodari running over to him before the restart after both goals for example.

Ferring obviously not got any better in recent years then. They were one of the worse teams in England a few years ago, finishing bottom with a goal difference in the -300+ !!!

Danny Bloor, fantastic bloke. Gave me my senior debut when he was assistant manager to Gary Wilson at Lewes. His son, Teddy, had just been released by The Albion U18’s I think and was training with us at the time, before signing for Shrewsbury. Danny is great, you’d run through a brick wall for him.

He seems it. I've been to both home games this season and I think it's been quite noticeable the players really do seem to be playing for him. Both games before kick off too he's come out onto the pitch and gone round to clap the supporters and got applause back. It'll be a good season.

I agree a draw was a fair result, Hastings were under the cosh a bit first 20 before they settled in. I think they went 2 up after creating 3 chances vs Bognors 6/7 chances, a polar opposite to last season when they'd find themselves losing after creating most of the chances.

Looking forward to Folkestone on bank holiday Monday, I'd imagine they'll bring a fair few down.
Still waiting to spot myself in one of your photos, I think we tend to stand in similar places!

Gutted he left Eastbourne Borough. Was treated appallingly.

Hasting/Bognor. That's a VERY good attendance for a 7th tier match (y)
Hastings were getting those numbers regularly last season as well if I recall correctly. Think there was a match recently where their home crowd was bigger than Crawley’s.

I’m at Oakwood this weekend. I expect that to be the lowest so far.
Oakwood 1 - 6 Infinity

Infinity’s first season at this level after back to back promotions. Oakwood perineal strugglers.

6-1 a deserved result with two penalties, two own goals and two fantastic finishes.

25 in attendance.
