Until the player knows the club who will be activating the fee he can’t really be expected to accept it though.What happens to the release clause if he decides to stay at Leeds? Does it get put back in, or is he then back on the free market, so to speak?
It's a bit weird - to me, at least - that the club decides the fee it is happy to sell at, but the player decides if he wants to go

I think Rutter is the No.8 to replace Groß. Insane assist stats from last year. First we chased KDH, then O’Riley and finally got this guy.
Look at our formations in our first friendlies, he’ll be replacing Moran in that system.

The gist was that RDZ did or didn't do something, which made KDH - who was apparently keen to come - think again and/or change his mind...
