The way football is today we only need Milner to do an hour and then he can be replaced. We have a good few options. With all the youngsters around it is good to have someone 'street wise' on the pitch to help set the tone. It is interesting that amongst all the young talent our new manager has seen to utilise Steele, Veltman and Milner more than perhaps might have been anticipated. That suggests to me he is rather realistic as to the challenges in the PL.

So i'm trusting the Villarreal line up (this is what i expect Hurzeler to go for)
Rushworth as #2 until Verbruggen returns but to be loaned off before end of window - perhaps a third keeper to sign up. Cahill if not.
Enciso, Ferguson, March, Estupinan and a Full back, Centre Mid still to come.
No room for ACD, but perhaps he'll swap ACD out for O Mahony. Can always play Pedro as the no.9 .

Steele
Veltman Dunk JPVH Barco
Wieffer Milner
Minteh Pedro Mitoma
Welbeck

Subs: Rushworth, Baleba, Hinshelwood, Igor, Ayari, Moran, Sarmiento, Adingra, O Mahony

Enciso, Ferguson, March, Estupinan

so are these the current injuries? Looks like Enciso is getting into a big injury prone, missing a lot of last year and now out again…same with estupian. i really do hope solly comes back the player he was. No idea about Ferguson. Was it his ankle that did him last year?

any news on the wires about how long these guys are still out for?

As you have said for the starting 11 (barring any unforeseen training injuries)
I would probably have Webster on the bench instead of Igor.

As an aside i am somewhat surprised to see some people on here suggesting players or even formations other than that with which we started on Saturday. What have they been watching?

Enciso had knock at the Olympics, which was then reported as not serious and he posted gym photos after so seems fine.

I might start Hinshelwood ahead of Veltman, and have Webster on the bench rather than Igor, but otherwise I imagine that will be it.

Yep. Webster is definitely a better shout than Igor who seems to be in Hurzeler limbo land with Dahoud and Moder etc.

Hurzeler said it wasn't serious at the weekend. . Expectation is that he'll be back in a couple of games.

Estupinan had an operation at the end of last season and last update was he'll be back in September or around then.
Ferguson likewise is recovering from last season's injury but has been shown training (solo) at Lancing on the club's social media.
Likewise with Solly. He's running, presumably doing strength stuff but no rush for someone who has been out for a year.

Lamptey went to Japan but has been conspicuous by his absence since then, didn't make the QPR or Villarreal line up and no sign of him in training videos in the last week (injured ? being sold ? ).

sorry. not on ignore . just clogging up the thread (as ever)

Steele and Milner seem almost certain to start which is pretty depressing.
Given up talking about Steele as we are that point where nobody is going to change their mind.

But I really thought Milner had a decent game on Saturday
