If Lamptey was going to play he'd have featured in the last two pre season games

I think Adingra, Mitoma and Minteh is unlikely as well

I reckon the team is picked

--------------Steele
Veltman -- Van Hecke -- Dunk -- Barco
---------Milner-- Wieffer
----Minteh -- Pedro -- Mitoma
------------Welbeck

With 60 mins subs already in mind such as

Hinsh for Milner
Sarmiento for Pedro
ACD for Minteh

And possibly Baleba for Barco and O'Mahoney for Welbeck late on

OK there was a lot of evidence from the Saturday friendly of what Fab intends to do

---------------------------- Steele ------------------------
------- Veltman ------- Van Hecke ------ Dunk -----------
Minteh --------- Milner -------- Wieffer ----------- Barco
------------- Welbeck ----------------- Mitoma -------
------------------------ Joao Pedro ------------------------

There was obviously a huge lot of plusses in attacking sense from Villarreal but also some worrying defensive holes. The Spanish targeted the area on the right flank between Veltman and a frequently upfield Minteh and should have scored early on. My other worry-wort niggles are whether Wieffer is mobile enough for the Prem and I am also more concerned than most about Barco's too many turnovers of possession. I think although they might not be popular choices, both Milner and Steele are cemented in the team for the opening months of fixture list.

I would personally prefer this line-up for Fab's preferred formation:

---------------------------- Steele ------------------------
---------- Veltman ------- Van Hecke ------ Dunk -----------
Hinshelwood ------Milner -------- Wieffer ----------Baleba
------------- Minteh ----------------- Mitoma -------
------------------------ Joao Pedro ------------------------

For me, this looks much more solid defensively down both flanks which I think we need to be on the opening day of the season. Been impressed by Baleba at LWB, he looks way more at home there than in the wide open spaces of midfield where he has shown positional lapses of judgment. Forget giving Minteh defensive duties and get him concentrated 100% on what he's brilliant at, dribbling and scoring

Fair enough if managers opinion differs from mine and considers Milner is part of strongest midfield. However hope manager doesnt ger caught up in helping Milner overtake Gareth Barry.

I will leave the team to the manger. It's way to early to see who will gel together and cause Everton the most damage.

I wonder how Fab and Dyche will behave first game?

Milner looked fine to me. A tactically astute leader in a team playing a new system is valuable even if he's not as quick as he once was.
I'm not a huge Milner fan on his performances last season.

But in centre mid, I think he'll win quite a few round.

Got to trust the manager at this stage. Hinsh and Baleba, and possibly ayari if we don't sign anyone will get their chance in there
