Best finisher at the club in my opinion. Not particularly suited to our previous style or an obvious fit for the pace of the Premier League. Some managers might have found a way to integrate him effectively but could be a bit of a luxury. As he seemed to want out even last summer rather than to fight for a place, this deal looks like great business to me.

Begs the question as to why he was signed in the first place.
Does it?
was, relatively, cheap and scored lots in Belgium. Worth a punt and now getting a tidy profit

Widely reported its €30m plus add-ons

Kicker are saying "The transfer fee is 27 million euros, with further bonuses pushing the cost up to the 30 million mark, probably even more."

But we are supposed to have a rigorous due diligence data driven scouting and recruitment system. If Deniz didn't pass through perhaps because he wouldn't fit our style why sign?

I agree about the profit maybe we bought him as a commodity to sell as opposed our playing strategy.

If the data Tony & co are producing says "this guy have a good chance of being worth £27m in a couple of years" and they can get him for £6m... I can imagine there are situations where you'd do it even if he's not a perfect fit. And despite not fitting into the style of play, he did contribute with his particular qualities.

The situation was also a lot different when Undav signed. Maupay, Welbeck and Ferguson (who had just only recently turned 17) were the only strikers in the squad.

Helped that he came from USG no doubt ! Wonder if they had a sell on or how their fans feel about us pocketing the big profit

Think they're a little too busy winning and challenging for titles to really give a shit.

Why sign him? To make money. Your commodity point is, in my view, right.

i believe Tony is running something similar to a horse racing stud (without the sex). He’s investing in players that may make it with us or elsewhere.

Bloody hell that's an idea ask Fran Kirby for a few eggs and get the lads to have a tug. Advertise for surrogate mums and Tony's yer uncle, a men's and women's team for the future.
