This is over isn't it?

How are the far right ever going to mobilise the numbers they need to seriously threaten the police?

This is over and they have lost.

I believe this is the best day our country has had for many many years. The true character of our nation has come out. Brighton has been right in the vanguard of that

I agree. But don’t believe it was ever a serious contest either.

I’m going to call myself out. I was wrong and happy to say so. The anti demos have made a statement that resonates.
Me too.

And...perhaps we should have a little more faith in our convictions.

There are thousands of 'I want my country back' supporters.

But there are millions who think we already have our country.

Let us stay strong.

Not a great turn out so far.
I do wonder how those three came to be in that situation.

Did they wander around a bit, fail to find what they were looking for and then ask someone "HI, we're racists here for the protest - where do we need to go?". before being shown to a doorway.

I am absolutely sure that was the case. I saw another couple of groups (maybe half a dozen in total) hanging around well away from the immediate Queen's Road area. A couple of them talking quite openly 'of the f***ing fun they were going to have' as we walked past. I wonder if my appearance gave the incorrect impression that I may be sympathetic to their cause
It seems your judgement, to rock up and show some love, was the right call.

Well done

I am wondering if racist trouble will continue in areas of tension up North?

I’m pretty sure they are dead in areas like Brighton now but they could “retreat” to areas where such sentiments are more prevalent?

I believe they are being protected by police as they are outnumbered by about 500 to 1.

I imagine they would have just got jeered and laughed at rather than any physical harm coming to them.

Look at the footage from the weekend man.

The threat was real

Racists tested us. We stood firm. They will crawl under their rocks and hide now

Maybe calm down with the rhetoric. Nobody tested anyone tonight, anywhere, least of all Brighton. I do know the Police are exhausted though. Hopefully nobody, however righteous and well meaning, protests tomorrow so they can have a night off from all this craziness.

Report including video here:

@Bozza, I have been going to Accrington to see the in-laws for over 30 years. It is like a second home for me. It is your quintessential grim northern town. The white and Asian communities don't mix. Whites embracing muslims just doesn't happen.

So when it - does - happen, it is huge. A watershed. The impossible has just happened.

For me, it is the litmus test for the whole nation. It feels like we really have turned a corner.

Sorry - there's something in my eye.
