Man jailed for three years for taking part in Southport disorder

Derek Drummond has been jailed for three years for taking part in the violent disorder in Southport.

He is the first offender to be sent to prison for that offence since the trouble began.

He has also been sentenced to two months for punching a police officer - to run concurrently.

Two men jailed for 30 months and 20 months for violent disorder

Declan Geiran has been jailed for 30 months - 28 months for violent disorder and setting fire to a police van in Liverpool, and a further two months in relation to a conviction for malicious communication.

Liam Riley has been jailed for 20 months, including two months for the racially aggravating element for this offending.

And these are only the minor offenders getting short sentences. The more serious ones likely to get the bigger sentences are simply being put on remand by the magistrates courts to appear at crown courts.

This is only the very beginning

A lot of those who are being nicked rioted because they thought they’d get away with it.
This is why they’re now crying in court, they got caught up in the moment and are now realising quite how f***ed they are.

Just catching up on this thread.

For a minute there I actually thought you were complaining for receiving a ban for using that word to try and insult someone. That's almost as bad as @Tom Hark Preston Park asking for an alternative word to use to descripe football hooligans who were causing trouble in Germany.

Let me tell you, that is a disgusting word to use. Abhorrent. I am sick of seeing it banded around here and there. You've clearly not got children because if you did you wouldn't use it.

You do not know what it means or have any idea the difficulty parents of children with developmental disabilities have to cope with minute to minute.

There are parents, on this very message board who haven't had more than 3 hours solid sleep for nearly 6 years because their child does not sleep, even though they are on medication to help.

There are parents on here, who work 8-5, whose children FINALLY fall asleep at 10pm who have to go to sleep immediately their children do just to get 3 hours sleep before work in the morning.

There are parents on here, who do not know how to make their child feel calm when an advert comes on the tele they do not like, or someone knocks on the door and it's out of their routine, so they bite themselves so hard they bleed to regulates their emotions, or bang their head on the wall.

There are parents on here, who despite having a 5 year old son, have never been called Dad before because their son is non-verbal and can't communicate as he would like to.

There are parents on here, who gets stared at because they are taking their child for a walk and he is in a buggy.

There are parents on here, who have to go through untold difficulties, some which nobody understands, and stuff which everybody takes for granted. Parents who have to take 3 outfits with them for a 10 minute walk, just incase it rains, or my son spills his drink. The child cannot cope with getting wet, literally a drop. LITERALLY A DROP.

Could you cope? Because I can barely manage, he's my son, and I love him more than you could imagine. Seeing people use the R word as a Insult an then complain it. No sympathy. I take it personally. THINK!!!

Sorry for going off topic, not the thread for this but I am sick of it.
I was using it in a different context but that aside.

If you do a search on "Retard" above you will find a couple of @Guinness Boy political fellow travellers using it on the first page of results. May I suggest you take it up with him why they didn't get a months ban for "Words we dont use here" that is if your being genuine and not looking for an excuse to bash a political opponent?

Here let me help you, Han Solo

"The lad really only wants to make young people play good football that people enjoy... that's pretty much it. The fact that he has not said a single word in media for 13 months pretty much shows how uninterested he is in all the sideshow shit. That he's not a complete f***ing retard who turns down £50m doesn't really change the basics.""

Zeberdi

Not defending him but he did say that the Arizona total ban ‘goes too far’ - an impressive conciliatory position indeed for a misogynistic, serial sex offender (according to scores of women) - an emotional retard who thinks women’s bodies have no value at all other than to be objectified and serve his predatory behaviour.

Just seen a report on BBC news on him stating this, I do not have the solutions but suggesting threats will deter rioters is deluded imo!

If Sunak had come out with the same comments I am 100% certain your opinion would not be the same :lolol:
Where, incidentally? Not here:

Then you're 100% wrong.

I don't accept that penalties do not deter criminality. That of course doesn't mean that prison has eradicated crime.

You won't find any examples of my defending criminality or decrying sentencing. This includes the eco twits who got several years recently. When Sunk was PM. I did not criticize Sunk for the sentencing.

I am happy that prison has an element of punishment in its rubric.

If a prison sentence deters a few people from being dicks it is a deterrent.

There are no crimes that have been eradicated due to prison. Murder being one. But it would be absurd to say that prison has no deterrent value for potential murderers. Or shoplifters. It would indeed be deluded

And Starmer did not say that prison sentences will halt the wanker 'protesters'.

f*** me. We can do without yet another false narrative.
Let’s see how today’s riots go shall we? I just don’t accept that these rioting thugs are going to be deterred by threats

If you think that makes ME deluded, so be it

I back what he is trying to do 100% btw

Over a hundred protests are planned for tonight - BBC News just now.
I wonder if this is more strategic brilliance from the Napoleon of Aiya Napa

So the thinking being, if there are 100 protests, police numbers are thinned.

Well maybe, but I don't think they have the numbers to cause significant disruption in 100 places separately, especially not while many of their top boys have been reported on as weeping in courtrooms. Minds have been focussed in the last day or two.

Most likely at least 90 of those are a distraction. But I reckon the old bill are seeing Telegram rooms in real time now, even if they weren't before. there's a lot of people already nicked, and willing to do anything to mitigate a sentence.

Vast majority are lowlifes looking to steal things without risk of punishment. Showing they will be punished will deter some. Not all, of course but better than nothing.

'A stain on our national moral conscience'- Councillor issues statement

Brighton and Hove City councillor Ivan Lyons said: "Over the last few days we have watched in horror as a small minority have brought hatred, violence and vandalism to towns and cities across the country. "We have seen anti-Muslim hatred and the targeting of mosques; asylum seekers and refugees attacked; violence directed towards the police and private property, all of which are a stain on our national moral conscience.

This wouldn't be the same councillor who was made to stand down as a prospective councillor as a result of his Islamophobic and anti-disabled Social media posts ? Or maybe he's seen the light ???

There will not be 100 riots tonight.
Apparently they are all organised on a telegram channel with over 10k memebers in. At this point it will be full of police and journalists. They've likely scheduled loads so police attention is split. The few real gatherings will then have more room to operate in. I can see the one in Brighton being bollocks but the one in Crawley actually happening.

Definitely my thinking, they're not exactly going to turn up mob handed to Walthamstow, or if they do I can't see it ending well for them.

I never said ALL people will be deterred.

And you will find that Starmer said no such thing.

My guess is you don't like Starmer and have allowed your antipathy to run away with itself.

If there is even only one riot tonight you will imagine you have proven your point.

<sigh>
