Doesnt work like that does it. Players get injured. Suspensions , Tactics.

In the prem you need 2 top quality players for every position.

CB behind Dunk and JPVH , the quality massively drops off

This bloke would compliment what we have
Hummels could also play the CB/CDM role where everyone seems to assume Weiffer will play.

Problem is that surely any other club in the EPL would take him apart from maybe city or arse. Would take a minor miracle for him to come to lil old Brighton.
If he wants to be a guaranteed starter in a team playing exciting football, then he doesn't have that many to choose from.

Crazy isn't it, one of the world's most experienced and decorated Central Defenders, and people don't want him because he once said something not agreeable about his club. Baffling.
I did sort of express reservations earlier, but given the club’s No Dickheads Policy (which probably isn’t described like that!), if he comes to BHAFC I’d assume he’d passed that test. And therefore I’d be delighted. It would be another Vicente!

He's clearly been a top player including in the Champions League last season though he wasn't so great in the league and he could be a very good signing for us but it's more than once and not just about club but country as well. He's known for being a bit of a dick at times.

You can be pleased with the potential signing but have reservations about the character, especially with such a young manager not used to dealing with big players and personalities like that.

I'm just not finding much evidence of this. To simply say no to a world class player, still at a decent level of his game, because he might be a dick, seems ridiculous.

I didn't say no to him? I hope it does happen as I'm intrigued. Just warning of what he has done in the past as a seasoned watcher and fan of the Bundesliga.

I think you'll be disappointed if you think he's world class now though. The Champions League performances last season were at odds with his league performances.

Joy to watch him at Withdean, head and shoulders above most players at the time and Bridcutt’s mentor. Short and sweet stay here.
Yep, and weighing it up Hummels would be a fantastic mentor for Van Hecke.

We could play three CBs, it would allow us to ringfence Veltman as a right back / RWB, we could offload Igor and we could switch to 2 CBs if we got injuries or suspensions.

It makes sense on every level and will therefore never happen!*

*although it did take about a week for me to believe Vicente had signed AFTER he'd held the shirt up :lolol:

Oh, and if we sign him you'll have to do another mojo poll as I reckon I'll be a NINE.
