Hopefully Truls Möregårdh can channel his inner Jan Ove Waldner tonight.

This is what I wanna see:

See my earlier post about silly black table and pink net tape.

That clip you posted looks like an exhibition match. The ' Magician ' would have ended that rally very early. In a sport dominated by the Chinese Waldner was phenomenal. Even the Chinese loved him. So many skills but I loved his blocked shots which made some attacking players trying to loop it past him look silly with minimal effort.

Probably was some sort of exhibition game yes, or some less important group stage game in some tournament. Waldner and Persson both had 30 year careers and played "a few" games, so they were pretty playful when facing each other as they got older.

Waldner is indeed the more known of the two players but the other guy, Jörgen Persson (now the coach of Möregårdh), isn't too shabby either. 7 Olympics between 1988-2014 and two fourth places.

Hows the table tennis situation in Britain? Any good players? Can't say I watch table tennis a lot aside from Sweden in the Olympics but its a very fun sport both to watch and play.

My playing days are long since gone and probably not best placed to comment on national scene although I know funding is always a battle. From a local perspective it does not look great. In my 20's there were 8 divisions in the local eastbourne league. That is now down to 2! :+

Given up with Discovery+ coverage. Too much going on and not clearly enough labelled to know what to watch, too difficult to navigate the app to find the right stuff and to not even bother to supply a steady 4K stream despite them broadcasting it (seemingly exclusively) on Virgin TV is pathetic. What is the point in paying for the top tier of Discovery/TNT if they can't even be bothered to supply the product? For most of the streams they don't even provide commentary.

On the other hand, BBC coverage is superb, fleeting between important moments, experts on comms, and super easy to see what is happening right now and what to focus on. They even provided the opening ceremony in UHD. Only improvement I'd like to see that they're in control of (can't do anything about providing UHD streams with WBD owning the rights to that) is a shorter catch up programme to quickly get up to date with each day - 50 mins is too long.
