I think he's badly vulnerable at set pieces, I was surprised that Türkiye didn't make more of it. England should be pumping the set pieces into the box and getting lads around Bart, he's not imposing enough and it's definitely a route to goal. Shot-stopping wise he's magnificent, his reactions are fantastic and every game I've seen him play it's angered me even more that he's spent so much of the season watching Steele play and picking the ball out his net so frequently.

I’ll put this out there, but I wonder if the club are anticipating bids for Bart after the Euros, which is why we haven’t agreed another loan yet for Rushworth. If we get a too-good-to-turn-down bid from one of the mega-rich clubs then we could do a lot worse than replace him with another young keeper who was POTS in his Championship team last year.
I’m definitely of the opinion that Rushworth as number 2 is not a great idea. 5-10 cup games, many of which will be against lower-league sides, is no good for his development in comparison to a loan where he makes 40+ starts.

A shame we won't get to see his shot stopping in action on Wednesday after England fail to get a single shot on target.

Surprised by some in this debate. It’s not even really a debate. Unless he’s been linked away from us with a big money move elsewhere, I don’t understand any talk of him not being our number one next season.
He’ll have just turned 22 when the season starts - a baby in goalkeeper terms - and is the first choice goalkeeper by a distance for Netherlands. Who are lining up in the semi-finals tonight with Bart having played every game.
Now is exactly the time to put absolute faith in him. You are number one, and it’s up to others to raise levels and earn your shirt.
He WILL be our number one short of a big money move away. The goalkeeper rotation was a uniquely RDZ experiment.

Numerous questioning whether he will be next season in the last 10 pages, yes.
‘Badly vulnerable’ is overstating it, but it is something that he’s got to improve. But that’s fair enough - judging when to come / not come, for high balls, is comfortably the single most difficult aspect of goalkeeping (for anyone with the physical attributes and reflexes to handle the rest of the job).
Hes little more than a kid, and doing brilliantly so far.

The feeling I get from this thread and from speaking to people is a unanimous one that he’ll be #1.

Wait until he’s home from the Euros. He’s put himself well and truly on the radar this summer, and I’d be surprised if there isn’t interest from big clubs. Even more so if he helps the Netherlands to the final.
Some fuckers will put in a bit for £35-40 million and Tony will tell them to f*** right off.
If Chelsea go north of £60 million we may be in trouble.
He'd only leave to be first choice for a top team, and PL-wise, Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea, Tottenham all bought in a new first choice goalie last summer. Surely more likely next year?

I’d take it, plus add-ons, and put Rushworth straight in at number one. £60m would be hypothetical silly money and make him one of the most expensive goalkeepers of all time.
No chance this will happen of course, without a storming season or two.

From what I’ve seen of Rushworth - and the corresponding views of Swansea, Lincoln and Walsall fans - having a club willing to give us 60m for Bart would be a nice problem to have.
He's a GK - and a good one and getting better - but GKs don't attract the same price as strikers or no.10s; £40M would be a very interesting price for a GK - not many have sold for that much - especially as we've already got Rushworth and Beadle on the books.

Bart should be our first choice goalkeeper this season. No more fannying about with rotation with Rushworth as his number 2.
Hopefully he has an outstanding season and we have a nice problem next summer when someone offers silly money for him.

If Verbruggen and Steele had both been injured/suspended, we should have been forced to play McGill (or Hall, Reid, Fisher or Cahill) - shouldn't have the right to bring in an emergency keeper. Just not a good rule (and it ain't the only one!)
