You're doubting Bloom and Barber's choice of appointments? That's akin to accusing them of laziness in not appointing a new candidate.
With all due respect, that is utter nonsense.

Bloom and Barber are brilliant at what they do, but you can't seriously claim they couldn't possibly ever make a mistake. They've made absolutely loads of mistakes on hiring decisions in the past. Claiming that daring to doubt their choice of appointment is akin to accusing them of laziness is utterly ridiculous.

Something feels really untoward about Chelsea’s behaviour. It’s clear they’re cheating PSR but genuinely seem to be targeting us.

It’s not enough to throw cash to take our staff, and therefore the work we put in on training them, they will continue to let their replacements do the work in finding targets and scouting only to throw money at said targets.

I mean, they won the Champions’ League three years ago and are now spending their lives copying little old us. It seems true money can’t buy class, but it can buy the output of genuine class.

I don’t know why my head has gone. I can’t stand them. My blood boils when I read about that club. Disgusting and pathetic.

I think you're being a little bit harsh there.

No appointment in football - neither managers nor players - ever comes with a guarantee of success, and it's very easy to be wise after the event.

The very biggest and richest clubs in the world, with resources and a pull far greater than our own, make dud appointments.
There were plenty of alarm bells ringing at the time when they appointed Hyypia, as Leverkusen's results had deteriorated badly when he lost his assistant.

That appointment turning out to be a dud was predicted by many.

...and to follow up, mistakes are inevitable.

It's how we learn from those mistakes that really matters, and the subsequent appointments of Hughton, Potter and De Zerbi has been about as good as it gets, in terms of finding someone capable of taking the club up a level.

That's going to come to an end at some point because it's very possible we've finally found the club's ceiling. That won't mean that Manager X is indicative of bad recruitment.

We will still bend over backwards next time they want to pinch a member of staff from us.

I think KDH is a decent player but this whole idea of buying him has stunk from start to finish. Were we really ever likely to get Leicesters player of the season in January during their promotion push? I thought our whole model was finding hidden gems from abroad not English players who cost a premium to buy and in wages. This really makes the club look a bit foolish in front of 2 particularly condescending sets of fans. Am I missing something or are we just being overly ambitious?

That isn't what I said. From the previous post, it seemed like Weir was simply promoted without the post even being advertised, and that he is useless because Chelsea have gazumped us (again)

Of course, the board can make mistakes, as they're human, but it seems very harsh blaming one person for this transfer failing when Chelsea have been hijacking quite a few of our players or intended players.

Our recruitment and ability to get deals done has slowly declined over time since Winstanley & Ashworth left. It’s a concern and you question if continual recruitment / promotion within was the right move
While the continual loss of key behind the scenes figures worries me as eventually we'll make a dud appointment, I'm not sure situations like this are a sign of us having done so.

Isn't this and Kudus an example of us operating at the extreme limit of our capabilities? We're going for players that bigger clubs and bigger payers are also after rather than teams of our own size and budget. That means we're always going to struggle to get them over the line all the time the bigger payers are circling.

We promoted David Weir from loans manager to replacing Ashworth. I don’t believe he could possibly have been the best candidate for the job - always felt a convenient option.
Not strictly true. Weir was promoted from loan manager to Ashworth’s no2 before taking over when Ashworth left.

He was only Ashworth no2 after Ashworth resigned though right ?

It’s all about the dosh, so fair enough, we lost out. Fear not, but we have to plough our own furrow, that which accords with the club’s business plan and assures our continued long term security/survival at this level.
We’ll crack on, hopefully sign a couple of ‘Prem Ready’ players and have an exciting season under Wunderkid Fabian! 👍

Chelsea cheating FFP and PSR yet again. They insist on players moving to Leicester as part of the deal, of course they do, they'll send a couple of fringe or youth players Leicesters way on inflated values allowing them to book instant profit on those made up values and spread the cost of the Incoming transfer over several years. It's absolutely cheating plain and simple and everyone including the PL can see it, Chelsea reduce their debt by £20-30mill instantly by signing a player they neither need or really want and by shifting some deadwood in Leicesters direction. Scum club

Allegedly KDH didn’t want to come here in January and if he’s now thinking Chelsea or stay at LFC then f*** it, he wouldn’t have arrived with the right attitude anyway reading between the lines. Too good for us in his head, let’s move on, we seem to have put alot of effort into this transfer attempt. Really hope we have a plan B

No, he was in the role before Ashworth went and before there was talk of him going. Pretty much the same way as Mick Cave is Weir’s no2 (and recruitment manager since Jewell left)

That is their policy. They don't have our data, but know its generally good.

They hear we're genuinely linked, they hijack and throw more money.

That is a key plank of Chelsea transfer policy.

Follow Brighton and hijack their targets.

This sums it up 😫

Swaps are the latest PSR dodge.

Player A moves from Club B to Club C and Player D moves from Club C to club B. Both B and C are in profit and sustainability trouble. Conveniently this is not a 'swap plus cash' deal but each club charges the other a fee. Those fees might just be a little more than each player is worth on the open market. Newcastle and Everton were trying to set this up with Minteh and DCL, others of these have already completed.
